I went to about 20 jewelry stores in the greater Detroit area before picking J. Thomas for creating a custom engagement ring. I'm an extremely particular person and knew what I wanted (Design, quality, experience) and J Thomas exceeded my expectations. Stefanie was very friendly and accommodating to me and my very long schedule to complete the ring exactly how I wanted. I took the time to review every little detail of the ring with them with multiple revisions and when it was crunch time on building the ring from the approved 3D design they still meet the very tight timeline and delivered on time! I was able to view many diamonds to select from, I reviewed the 3D CAD design several times, as well as the 3D printed model before casting (satisfying a very demanding engineer…myself!) They helped with securing partial financing, the ring’s insurance, and made the remanding payments convenient for me. Every employee in the store was very pleasant and friendly and the engagement gift and mailed card was very thoughtful and I would definitely give them bonus points on customer service for that. It was very hard for me to trust them on a custom design when they don’t have many pictures of completed pieces, but I’m glad I did because the ring came out absolutely perfect! J.Thomas Jewelers has now exceeded my expectations on two occasions within the last two months. They worked with us to resize an engagement ring from a size 7 to 4.75 without cutting it, per our request since it's a family heirloom. When I came to pick it up, the ring was a bit looser than we expected; however, since my fingers significantly fluctuate in size with weather changes, they are allowing me to wait until the Summer to make a final decision for additional sizing (without any additional costs). The second "wow" service moment was when I worked with Noreen to schedule a last minute appraisal due to my insurance company making an error. Noreen was able to not only effectively communicate with me, but also worked to have their appraiser come in on a Saturday morning, which is generally a day off for her. The appraiser (Nicole Diliberti - Radiant Gemological Services), was also very knowledgeable, thorough, and walked me through the entire appraisal process. Editing to share about my most recent experience: After having such a great experience at this shop in the past, my boyfriend (now fiancé) visited the shop when he was looking for an engagement ring. Lisa worked with him to discuss styles, qualities, etc. Later on, he brought me to the shop so I could look at rings before he purchased one and Lisa showed us both engagement rings and wedding bands so I could get an idea of what a set would look like. Lisa is knowledgeable, kind, and patient. After we got engaged, they gifted us a jewelry cleaning kit and wine with wine glasses. I could not recommend this store enough!

This place is amazing!! My Mom was looking for a ring as a gift to celebrate my recent graduation. We went to J. Thomas and were instantly greeted by Lisa. Lisa was very kind and knowledgeable. I ended up finding a ring that I liked, but I was looking for a different stone. Lisa was able to order a different stone for my ring and the final product is beautiful!
