Worst experience I have ever had eating out. I have been a regular here and have even both recommended and commended this place for selection of beer and food. As a 22 year old with a baby-face I have experienced some age discrimination but this was extremely inappropriate. Earlier today my license was chewed on by my dog and the entire license was intact but some of the picture was chewed. This was not the issue, I asked the waitress if the license was valid she was very rude about it and went to go show her manager. She came back and told me that it was not valid and I was okay with that and the night went on with the group I was with. The people I was with also made remarks about how rude the waitress was. Later on, our waitress then accused one of the girls I was with, with underaged drinking. She accused her of taking a sip of another girls drink in a very rude and demeaning way. At this point I was appalled, I felt like we were constantly being interrupted by either our waitress or her manager. I’ve worked in food before, being a manager, I wouldn’t accuse someone like the way she did. I understand the severity of underaged drinking but treating a customer the way they did was unacceptable. We then got threatened to get thrown out of the establishment because of it. But the night went on, and we finally got time to eat our food and enjoy some conversation and we then wanted to leave. I asked the waitress to put my friends drink on my tab. She said “no I can’t do that”. I was very confused on why I couldn’t pay for someone else’s drink. She then went back and got her manager. Her manager came out and was completely demeaning I felt like she was trying to be a mother figure to me as she talked down to our entire table. Being a manager before in food I’ve always made sure that I treated every paying customer well, treating them with respect no matter what age they are or how young they are. This is my last time coming to this establishment until something is done about this situation. I did not feel like I paid for a good experience I felt very angry and...
Read moreMetro Detroit Brewery Discovery Tour stop #45, Griffin Claw Clubhouse. Looking for a nearby location for a Brew after a ride on a warm September day, I recalled that I had not been here yet. Destination set. Checked the website before leaving and decided against getting food, the prices are just too high. Nearly everything that counts as a meal is pushing hard against the $20 barrier. I'll just grab a brew or two and mosey on. The place is huge. Outdoor seating is expansive, well over a dozen tables - picnic style & 4-place high-tops. Some are under cover, some around/near the two fire pits. Indoors is bigger still with more of a sports bar vibe. Tons of TVs above the bar and elsewhere. Feels much more restaurant than brewery. The hostess was quick to greet and lead me to a seat. The server, Allison, arrived shortly thereafter with food & libation menus, suggesting some ice water while I scanned the drinks menu in the 82° breeze. She was wonderful and upbeat throughout. 11 ciders, a pair of Oktoberfest offerings, 4 different IPAs, 4 lagers, 3 wheats, 2 stouts (1 barrel aged @ 16.7% abv!), a sour, a red, and a Belgian strong round out the fermented choices. Well, they have wine, too. And a pumpkin beer (evil, nasty pumpkin beer. Ptooi!) The two I had were very good. The music is way too loud, even outside, forcing an ambient volume to be borderline intolerable. Yes, it's a Saturday afternoon and all the Yuppies are out, the Michigan game is on and it's a beautiful day but, damn! I'm getting a headache. Think I'll finish my beer and head out. You will not hear the traffic, either from M-59 or Crooks Rd. it's that loud. Too bad, I really thought I'd like this place a lot more. Well, that why I'm checking them all...
Read moreI've always had a great experience at Clubhouse BFD, but last night was not one of those. We had a party of 6 plus a baby and we arrived around 8:45pm for dinner/drinks. One person in our party has a broken foot and can't walk, so she has a knee scooter to get around. We asked to be seated at a low table so she could prop her broken foot up and for the baby who was sleeping to be able to stay in her stroller.
After we had ordered our first round of drinks, a manager approached us and explained that a group of men come into the restaurant every Tuesday night and always sit at the table we were seated at; she asked if we could move. While usually that wouldn't be a huge deal, we had a sleeping baby and an adult who isn't able to walk and has to maneuver around in a knee scooter. We obliged and moved; while we were moving our group to another table, I saw the group of TWO guys that the manager was referring to. They were watching us almost in disbelief (because it wasn't easy to get us all moved) and I saw them tell the manager that she didn't have to do that and have us moved.
While the manager did bring out pretzel bites with beer cheese dip as an appetizer for us, I'm still a bit appalled at the whole situation and her willingness to move our group for a group of two guys who supposedly come every Tuesday night who didn't even ask...
