Giant Eagle Supermarket — Local services in Rochester

Rochester,pa giant eagle. I was so amazed at the customer service I had received on Saturday 8/9/2025. I went to get chicken at the hot foods and they said they would not be able to fill my order, I was having a birthday party for my family. I tried earlier in the week to place a order ,but I was told they were not accepting any more orders. Then I was told if I would be at giant eagle early they would have chicken to purchase. So of course I was there at 9am and was told they could not have any chicken for me to purchase. I asked to speak to manager, John had arrived in a very short time with a smile on his face and was very accommodating. He was willing to call other giant eagles to locate the order I needed. Asked me to give him a few minutes. To my surprise when he returned he had the store manager Brian with him.i explained the situation and they were willing to go to another store to pick up and deliver it to me at my home. Brian asked me to give him a a little time and he would figure out what to do,he took my name and phone number. Within a short period of the me they called said my order was ready and I can pick up. I had other shopping to do so I went back to store and to get my cake I ordered and the other items I needed. When I went to the hot foods they brought me out the chicken I needed and said there is no charge on this because I had to return to store twice. I offered to pay for it and the would not hear of it, I could not believe they were able to accommodate me and made me feel so grateful that my Giant eagle was so caring and really did care that the situation I was in and took care of it. A big heart thank you to John was so caring and helpful, same goes for Brian all the employees were so nice and professional. I will continue to shop at Rochester giant eagle unbelievable service, made me realize that hey really do care about their customers. Thanks again for all the help I received and the kindness from John and Brian the Birthday party was a success and everyone rave how good the chicken was. The birthday cake was delicious this will be my go to for all my family gatherings. So...

The bakery always has great, fresh items. The only problem that I have experienced is the poor customer service that left me so disappointed with the staff and going elsewhere for my bakery needs, even if it is an inconvenience.

I had called around 4:50 and a woman in bakery picked up the call and said something along the lines of "Hello, bakery, how can help you?" So I let the woman know that I wanted to place an order for a cake and she asked me to hold. Some minutes later, hot foods picked up the call and when I said I was trying to place an order for a cake, she let me know that the bakery staff has left for the day at 5:00 and I can try to call tomorrow. When she let me know that they left, it was 5:01.

I was utterly disappointed with the way I was treated by staff. Instead of saying, "The bakery is closed for the night," or simply taking my VERY quick order (I knew exactly what I wanted to get and there was nothing extra added to it), the woman put me on hold and left for the day. I will give this supermarket 1 star, one because it was clean & the lady at the cash register was very polite . The owners of this store do not care about anything but making a profit. Anyone who says support local businesses will change their mind if they shop here. Even their 5 for $25 meat deal is not a bargain. Packages were very small. Society blames price hikes on covid, but this is sickening! I can longer accept that concept, it's greed! This store has the highest prices I have ever seen, unless you live in NYC. Bring $50 in this store & tell me what you can get. The minimum wage is $7.25 in PA so you want to buy something like, salt veggie straws, you will need to work an hour & a half because they cost $9.99 in this store! They cost $5.34 elsewhere! A $4.65 difference! I checked. Maybe people shop here out of convenience? I have no clue. I recently got a perks card, sorry this does not save the consumer money.
