Went to Menards South, as we’ve done for the last 40 years, to get lumber for a project. Everyone inside the store and at the yard gate were very helpful. We entered building 19 to find our lumber. Our lumber was on the second level and very heavy. There was a worker loading a skid loader, told us our lumber was on the second level and did not offer to help. I asked if we had to get it by ourselves and he said yes. My husband is 70 and just had back surgery. I am 62 and have a chronic illness. I told the worker that, asked the worker to get the other skid loader to help my husband, and asked to talk to the manager. The manager came to talk to me and told me that Menards is a self-service lumberyard and has been that way for 40 years. Any other time we’ve gone to pick up lumber, there has always been people asking if they could help us. Extremely disappointed in the outdoor lumberyard customer service. We’ve always loved Menards but will go elsewhere for our project needs...

While browsing the paneling section, I noticed a manager following me aggressively. He pretended to look at paneling when I stopped, circled the aisles, left, then came back to stare at me again. It was obvious he was watching me, and it made me feel like I was being treated as a thief.
I do not steal, and I don’t appreciate being harassed or profiled while simply trying to shop. I was seconds away from asking him directly if he thought I was stealing. This type of treatment is unacceptable.
My husband and I are a military family, and we are always treated with respect at Lowe’s, where we also receive a military discount. Because of this experience, I will continue shopping at Lowe’s instead of here. Customers deserve to feel respected, not followed and made to...

We went to the customer service desk to ask about our special order and she indicated you have to go to the special order area. When I asked where that is, she pointed in a direction and said "over there". My husband and I just went searching to find this difficult "special order" area. It was crazy trying to find the right place and the sales people do not offer unsolicited assistance. Once in what we thought was the right place, according to the signs, we were then sent somewhere else. I don't know if Menards was short staffed or they just don't teach proper customer service, all I know is this was a frustrating experience and no one cared. We were in the warehouse section practically being run over by machines and still no one assisted us. I will think twice before ordering...
