New China — Restaurant in Rochester

This is NOT a 4.7 star restaurant. The food is not good. Very bland. The chicken in the fried rice has no seasoning and seems like boiled chxn beat cut up, the fried rice is bland and needs to be fried a little longer, the beef lo mein was OK, got the sesame and general tsos chxn and u literally cannot tell the difference between the sauce and the chicken was so utterly dry...needed to be fried a little less. Tried the spring rolls and fried dumplings. I didn't mind the spring rolls although I don't know why they wuldnt send a little bit of sweet and sour sauce with them... I like a touch of sauce. The dumplings tho wer OK but some had hard chunks of meat(I'm guessing bone?) I'm not trying to snub but was very disappointed for how high a rating this place had. It is also an EXTREMELY small place with jus a couple seats to sit so not really a good place to eat in at. They should really relocate the many boxes that wer stacked throughout the restaurant. First time ordering from New China today, and I was really impressed. Prices seemed right in line with the rest of the Chinese take-out places in town, until I picked up my order and saw the portion size! I really think you're getting at least 20% more entre and rice when you order from here. I also didn't expect my order to come with 2 crab rangoons, which were delicious, so I also ordered an egg roll, which was really crispy and had great tasting filling. This restaurant does not use MSG, if I remember correctly. House Special Mei Fun aka Singapore Rice Noodles was a little dry. Crab Rangoon are good. Sweet and sour chicken is good. Lunch special has good portions; enough to split with another person. Lunch special with egg drop soup actually comes with crispy noodles; only restaurant in Rochester that provides those with the lunch special. Check your order before leaving with take out.
