Well isn't this place a dangerously good local gem. I could do some real damage to my liver if I were closer to the Thirsty Belgian.
You walk in and are greeted by tchotchke overload in a wonderful environment of welcome and good food and beer smells. What's the German or French greeting like Norm entering Cheers? That's how this feels.
The glassware and on tap selection, whoah!! So over the top and maintaining this level of beer and the right glasses for each beer is over the top. The Kwak glasses alone are.... fantastic. And getting Kwak on tap anywhere is a treat.
I had the bruschetta that was good but I prefer mine with balsamic glaze. The toasties more than make up for it. I had the Tijuana with chipotle mayo. Perfection.
Talked to the owner and the woman tending bar and both were so great to hang with. These are good people and I hope their business thrives for another 10, 20, etc years. I'll be back when I'm...

Of the 3 we would rate good enough to survive in Chicago, I would put The Thirsty Belgian in the top 2. Great, very friendly staff. OMG! The food was wundebar!!! Wonderful!! I know my husband like is when he says things like "I want to come bag in 3 hours", Or, "on your way to work tomorrow you can drop me off and pick me up on your way home". LOL. I had the Beer cheese soup and the Zsa Zsa Toastie. Both great!!! Will make this our main...

Our experience was average. The service was friendly, but slow. Our server kept stopping to chat with each table for extended periods of time, which would’ve been nicer if she wasn’t taking care of a bunch of tables at once.
Food and drinks were average. Wouldn’t recommend the smoked hard boiled egg - it was really over cooked and dry. The “toasties” were ok, pretty average panini. Mine was supposed to come with pesto aioli, but there was hardly any on it. The best tasting item was the chips with pico and queso.
I wouldn’t go back unless there was...
