La Rancherita Restaurant — Restaurant in Rock Island

Highly disappointed. I have been to La Rancherita hundreds of times. I love their fajitas and steak burritos. Even the next day. But this last experience may be the last time that ever recommend La Rancherita has a best kept secret to anyone for a long time.

Our late lunch started out just fine. Service was initially prompt. I got my Negra Modelo pretty quick followed by my wife's water. She ordered the combination and I ordered the steak burrito. The food has always come quick, another plus to the history of my experience with La Rancherita. But about halfway through our plates was when it happened.

My wife found a long hair deep within the tostada's beef and connected to cheese. Rather gross. We have both worked the food industry so we totally understand when mistakes happen. Not a big deal. We figured we would discuss with the waitress and see what would happen. Well, 15 minutes go by, without a single check up. How did she not know I was curious about another beverage. She never asked. Nor could we get this hair in her food figured out. We finally confronted her about the hair in her food. Our unseasoned waitress didn't even put effort into a simple apology nor did they try and help rectify by offering up a new tostada. Utterly disappointed.

Here I have been recommending La Rancherita to my friends and people I meet and people I work with. Then something like this happens. I will not be going back to Rock Island location anytime soon. Not until they fix their service. I will be going to Los Portales in Davenport or Los Agaves down the street more often now. They have drink specials and have managed to keep their hair out of my food.

We did my birthday take out here because my husband and his buddies go here regularly and they swear by the food . Each and every time I have eaten here there has been one issue or another . Waiting over 40 mins while sitting in for a beer , wrong topping on tacos, mind you I’ve been here a handful of times. Today I will say the ladies are super unprofessional, and are so distracted talking amongst themselves that they wouldn’t get an order right after repeating , when I call back to correct the order the girl stated she misunderstood me and while finishing reviewing my take out order notice not one thing is wrong but pretty much everything was. Luckily my son and his friends are not picky they picked out what they didn’t want from their tacos, they completely forgot about a my husbands quesadillas made my enchiladas de pollo in red sauce it was well over an hour of my time after going back and 30 mins for my husband . Food was average if that , not worth the hassle . Always check your orders , and if you believe in customer service this is not the place to go.Ese restaurante es uno de los peores que yo ha ido. Las meseras son malcriadas groseras y no tienen ningún clase de respeto. Nunca jamás regresaría este restaurante. I want to tell you all to stay away this is horrible just to try and keep it from being too packed but It would be a terrible lie as I have been the world over and all over Mexico and this place is of the top 3 Mexican restaurants ever. What I call a "dry" Mexican place (my favorite) as the food is not hidden in sauces and sloppy like many places. The white crumble cheese, chorizo, onion and cilantro corn shell tacos are unreal. I'd seriously question anyone's ability to rate Mexican food if they didn't LOVE these. Awful noisy most of the time for some reason maybe the acoustics as it is a pretty big place or possibly just loud clientele? The only real negative is they only accept cash and I normally use plastic for everything or I don't go there. I would likely visit more if they took at least Discover or AMEX. Good fast service even when full and the Chips,hot sauce and Pico they serve when you sit down puts them toward the top of any list right there with something to snack on while dinner arrives.
