Spencer's — Local services in Rockaway Township

I used to come to this store all the time and spend so much money. Buying toy, cleaning solution, buy the hi chew candies, chat up the employees there etc I can tell you I will NOT step foot into the store location ever again after the way I was treated. After searching for the rose, an employee (with long black hair ) helped me pick out I was grateful. She then asked if she can “hold my items at the counter so I can more arm space”… I literally only had candy and a small spray in my hand. I have never been asked this before. Obviously knew where this was going I just gave her my items. She walks off. And begins to stand in the aisle next to us. I started talking to my friend for awhile on what she wanted to buy as it was her first time EVER buy toys. 10 minutes MAX! The same employee was watching us pretending to fix the items behind us. Not even 3 minutes later another employee (with natural curly hair) came up to us with the nasties condescending tone and I am not kidding this is word from word what she said “I noticed you’ve been back here for a while so do you need help finding anything” … I know you just saw your employee help me find what I was looking for and I know you see my friend and I just talking. I said no I’m just talking to my friend. I had the box I was holding VISIBLE in my hand because I know how stores are and how a person who look like me they may think I was stealing. So I kept the box up and visible. Not even going in my bag for chapstick but still we were watched and approached… after she walked away the other employee was still watching us. I work in retail and know how things are but that was a bit much I literally wanted to say “I’m not stealing please stop watching me” it’s creepy especially if you’re talking to your friend about personally things about the product. if you have to watch people in your store like that get a camera system and put the motors behind your counter and watch from there. Don’t hover around people while the other approach us as if we have a time limit to discuss products! And maybe you do have theft problem but don’t scare away your LOYAL customers who aren’t stealing.

As the employee was ringing me up she had a complete attitude and was nasty. I honestly wanted to not buy those items but of course if I didn’t they would’ve had another made up reason in their head to escalate the situation further to think I had stole something. She switched up and was nice to my friend but nasty to me. I will never come back into that store. You made me feel completely uncomfortable and like I did something wrong and I didn’t! Horrible experience, walked in with my friend to then have 2 little boys that appear to be the ages of 11-13 and 2 older teens loiter at the back of the store. They came to the back of the store where all of the sex toys are and started making inappropriate jokes and commentary. Then it transitioned to them harassing us and asking my friend and I to buy them a sex toy. The two older teens were encouraging them on and slowly following us around the store. My friend and I left thinking that they would eventually leave but when we came back after 10-15 minutes, they were still there! We tried to ignore them and tried to continue shopping (because we still weren’t to able to comfortably buy anything the first time), then they started following us again and one of the little boys started approaching my friend with a phone . I’m more so upset at the that fact that the two staff members allowed very young children into the store and basically allowed them to harass customers while they were clocked in? Why didn’t they stop them or do anything instead of laughing with them in the back? One employee also laughing and asking the group of boys if the toys worked for them and their partners (alluding to the little boys not the older teens). I walked out angry without buying anything because the behavior from both boys and the staff were disappointing and...

You know something... I love Spencer’s they have everything you need to be a rebel Buuuutttt today I just tried to return a pair of earrings which I only bought like maybe 2 weeks ago that I didn’t break (I know some people do that but I don’t) and I had them less than 24 hours and the backing broke now yes I know I could go and get a new pair but they are different! Their the ones that close like a bridge and I walked up to the counter and said I was here not too long ago maybe a couple weeks ago I know it wasn’t that long ago cuz I bought these while my mom was getting her hair cut before Christmas and bought these he repeated back to me the guy LITTERALLY JUST STOOD THEIR LOOKING AT THE RECEIPT BECAUSE OBVIOUSLY HE DIDNT EVEN TRY!!!!! I even said can I swap them out for a new pair??? Even after he said that still just stood there so I mistakenly said if u can’t do anything that’s fine and walked out with almost tears coming down my face I was so mad that he didn’t even try!!!! He did nothing didn’t call the manager didn’t try to call someone else over!!!!! I’m gonna go back or try a different one! Or...
