Probably a 3.5 rating. It's clean & seems pretty new. The room had a kitchen area with a microwave & a stovetop, but no oven. In my room, the refrigerator is decent, but the doors open the wrong way. There are a few cooking utinsels, silverware, glasware. The thing to cook there would be TV dinners & not much more.||||The room is smallish, at least a standard room, but it has enough to get by. There is a table & chairs that can be used for dining. There's also a comfy-looking upholstered chair that has a very big arm on the left side & a normal sized arm on the right side. For someone left handed, their arm is trapped in a sense by the high side of the chair. There's a llamp behind that chair, so it's likely good for reading, save for the weird chair. There is also a reading lamp on each side of each bed, so there's a lot of light. There ought to be a few more plugs including for USB cords, of which there aren't any. The WiFi is fine & the TVi was also fine, with a decent selection of chaaannels. There's also an iron/board available. The beds were comfortable. ||||The batroom has a full tub, which is a fading thing these days. The sink is outside the tub & toilet, so it can be used seperately. The sink could use a towel bar/ring nearby as there is no place there to hang a towel. The drain closer unit for the tub was broken, but managed to hold water. The tub did drain well, which is not always so in hotels. There's an unusual closet there that I can't really describe. There's no dresser for folding clothes/socks except the night stand. The closet has some shelves for that I guess. The closet is unusual as noted, with a lot of wasted space.||||The free breakfast was mediocre, though COVID may still be a factor. The breakfast area is very small for the size of the hotel. I could see it getting over-run if a lot of the guests arrived at once. I've stayed at a lot of different Marriott hotels & this breakfast was among the poorest. They had no butter. It seems that someone could simply go to a COSTCO or Restaurant Depot for that. Also, no english muffins. The only toastable item were individual slices of plain white bread., without butter. There was no make-your-own waffle option either.||||The indoor pool is nice. I don't know if there's a small gym area. Parking seems adequate. I saw an outdoor grill available. Also during our stay, the smoke alarm went off each moring & the fire department had to be summoned to turn it off. There was no fire. This isn't necessarily the fault of the hotel, but one of the times we were still asleep. Maybe a guest was cooking to make up for the...

Read moreThis was a perfect location to stay while visiting our son in Mt. Arlington. We had never been to New Jersey before. With the exception (unexplained..) of the fire alarm going off one night, this hotel was one of the QUIETEST places we've ever stayed. (Even though, I learned they had 3 wedding groups staying there). || It's far back off the road, and next to a Hilton Homewood suites. The king-sized room was just right for 2 people. It has a pull out sofa but IMO (3) people would NOT be comfortable in the room, it's way too small. Very nice kitchen amenities (even a dishwasher), could allow 1-2 people to stay here several weeks if needed. ||We didn't use the pool (it has ALOT of restrictions during these Covid times). The room / hotel was impeccably clean. Very large parking lot (shared between the 2 hotels). Though the bathroom is small, due to the closet design, there's a long closet between the bathroom and the kitchen area (helping with air flow). ||Bed super comfortable and the shower was amazing. ||||2 "less than great" things are: there's no housekeeping service during covid times (I did not want it DAILY, but believed it was 'on request'. ). You can get a towel refresh and shampoo, etc. but that's it. ||The breakfast (grab and go), like another writer mentioned, was just ...not good. The odd thing was that everything is individually wrapped (even the slices of bread to toast!) but: you're still touching the toaster handle, the microwave handle and buttons, etc. (doesn't make much sense). There were whole apples (maybe small fruit cups would be better) and the waffles did not taste good at all. Butter patties were frozen. Individual yogurts were a good idea, and the juice was good. Coffee is available 24/7. There were also some kind of breakfast sandwiches to "nuke" but they didn't look good to me. IMO breakfast closed early on a weekend: 9am. |||| A high point - the laundry room is very nice, very clean. But BE PREPARED with quarters -- it's $1.50 per load to wash or dry. (I always bring laundry pods and dryer sheets). ||||Nearby: there is Rockaway Mall which (contrary to what another writer said) is really big (but fairly devoid of people). There are some restaurants around, and a Costo. But if you are used to buying alcohol / beer / wine etc. at a grocery store, you can't in NJ. We were dissappointed to find that the Shop Rite 'package store' section closed at 8pm on a Sunday. This hotel and the Hilton, do not have bars or restaurants on site. ||||OVERALL -- very impressed with the hotel, and if you stay in Rockaway (not Dover), the area is very nice. We would 100%...
