Old Latino employee in the hot food bar is very rude and disrespectful.I recently visited this store (Thrifty-Barton/Fiske) to pick up some food at the hot food section. I ask one of the employees for a WHOLE baked chicken. The young employee removed one and set it aside while I looked at my side selections. After choosing my sides, I went back to wear the weigh and wrap the container. Afterwards, a sticker with price is placed on the box. I asked them for my whole chicken that I selected earlier. An older Latino woman was standing at the counter while the young lady prepared my container. I said to them, what is in this flat container , the old lady replied chicken. I told her I don’t want that, I said I selected a whole baked chicken. The container in front of me was flat, it contained cut up chicken in it. I proceeded to tell her the I had a whole chicken set aside for me. The old Latin employee then stated to me, “it doesn’t matter if it is cut up, you are going to go home and cut it anyway.” I then responded in front of customers, you don’t tell me how to spend my money. Then she began to try explain to me further about the chicken. The chicken she gave me had been sitting out for some time so it was dry. I so happened to be the person who she tried to sell it to. I wonder if it was because I was an African American. I am not one to use the race card, but I really felt like she disrespected me. I didn’t realize what was going until I recall one of the young employees walking away earlier with three bake chickens on a tray while checking out. There is a surveillance camera in the section and the bakery, this incident should be on video. This was my third and last time visiting this store. I will not spend my money where I am disrespected. Our family has been pillars in Cocoa for over 100 plus years, there behavior is unacceptable, and will net be tolerated. I will definitely share my experience with people in the community. To other people of color, spend your money where it is...
Read moreGood evening, I don’t normally complain, but I don’t have a choice. Today, Saturday, October 21, 2022, I visited Thrifty in the Village Green Plaza in Rockledge, FL around 3:00 – 3:30 pm. I purchased fish from their seafood area. First, I was disrespected. I was waiting while the worker was assisting another customer and he saw me walk up as I began looking at the fish display. Once he (the worker) was done with the lady he was assisting, he immediately looked to the male who had just walked up after I was waiting for him (the worker) to finish with the customer who was there before me. He started taking his order, I stopped him and made the worker aware I was next; I received no apology for dismissal of me then I respectfully placed my order. Secondly, once I was done in the seafood area, I asked another worker who was stocking items in the cooler, where to find a certain item. His response, “speak no English.” I understand, majority of the workers are Hispanic in this store, but when you’re servicing the public, everyone ‘should’ be able to speak and understand both languages, in this case. Thirdly, I asked for my fish to be cleaned, split and head-off. When I got home, I found the fish was not ‘scaled’ cleaned, only the inside was cleaned, and the fish meat was cut up, as if the knife was dull, when he was splitting the fish. I am highly disappointed. I will...
Read moreI love this place. Little grocery store with absolutely fantastic cooked food for lunch and a lot of choices too. Also, cook to order breakfast and lunch in the deli.. All the food here is real food. None of that lab grown fake food that we are for whatever reason is being forced upon us as our country is forcing farmers out of business. Our country recently killed 250,000 cows in the name of climate change?? Yet electric cars require more fossil fuel than gasoline
((Follow up)) This grocery store is awesome!! They have the best fresh meat, pultry, pork, and fish in town or anywhere close that I'm aware of at least. Just what we brought today we save $26 for just tonight's dinner! The customer service and staff are extremely nice and are there to help you anyway they can to help make your experience easy and effortless.
Regarding the first post.. Things have changed and have not yet fixed the toxic food in our supply, water, and air. However, it's nice to know that it will be dealt with. It has already become a serious topic of discussion, so that gives me hope.
5 stars again for Thrify Specialty Produce. Thank you, 🄳🄹ɴᴏᴛʜɪɴɢ...
