Good: lots of inventory, friendly staff Needs work: pricing can be too high in the clothing store, inconsistent in the furniture store. Dont lower prices of items that have sat for weeks. Dont want you to open the bedding bags even though they may be stained, like mine was.
I will still shop here. I like to come to this store often. Their furniture and trinkets are always cool to look at and they usually rotate through a lot. The clothing store is ok, but some things they simply price too high.
They have a lot of bedding, but I noticed semi-recently (past few months), the signs are saying to NOT open the containers that the bedding items are in. Which I try to respect, but I don't want to buy it without making sure there are no stains. I get it, people dont put it back properly and they are "checked for stains", but I have frequently found items with stains in many stores that slipped the eyes of employees.
I decided to buy a bedding that I was watching for weeks, no one bought it and I was hoping they would have a sale or lower the price but they never did. I decided to buy it anyway because I wanted to gift it. I didnt open it to check it and lo and behold it has a rusty stain on the flat sheet. I paid $16 for it to...
Read moreI donated to this organization today, and I almost went back to collect my donations. I was taken back by the attitude of the staff. I inquired about what the charity was about, and this was the only thing that was positive. After years of donating to the Children’s Receiving Home (they now only take new items) I wanted to donate locally. Twice by two different people I was asked if I was donating money. After sorting out the clothing items they wanted they acted put off. I even had to ask for a receipt. The reviews about this organization seem accurate both good and bad. It is a shame that a place that calls itself a charity is like this. I have never been asked if I was donating money by a thrift store. This was a very tacky exchange. I feel bad for the young people who aren’t getting the potential benefits from the management/staff. The only reason I considered taking back my donation was to take it to a charity that would treat it with respect. 90% of the clothing they took was from Nordstroms. When I got home I shared my experience with my wife, and she said she had a similar experience with this organization a few years ago. I was extremely disappointed. A person shouldn’t have a bad experience while...
Read moreI have shopped several times at this thrift store. the profit from this thrift store goes to help aged-out foster youth. This program helps them find work (many work at the thrift store), provides many supportive services, and really values the youth. So the money you spend here helps the local youth.
Each time my shopping experience has been excellent in every way.The stores -both the furniture and the general thrift store are immaculate. The staff is cheerful and helpful. The prices are great and there are many deals to be had. The clothing is clean and well arranged, the furniture is beautiful (I am serious) and they have a lot of books and misc.
Please give both the Whitney store and the gift store on Pacific a try. Their store on Pacific/Taylor has beautiful gift items, much of it new. Where else can you get great deals, cool stuff for good prices, and know that you are helping youth who...
