Today was my first time shopping at Food Lion (Romney, Wv). When you first enter, you're greeted with bright lights, cool air, and rows of Checkout stations.
You go to your right and you have a produce section. It's small and with about 6 people and carts in there, felt smaller, but the selection offered was a great variety and everything looked fresh and even smelled fresh (straight from the farm).
Past that, you have the option to go among the aisles or shop along the back wall for your meats, milk, breakfast juices, and other dairy products. If you compare to other grocery chains, Food Lions aisles are shorter but that's not a complaint. In fact, I enjoy it. I hate going down an aisle and having to walk what feels like an eternity to get to the other end.
Last section you end with, unless you head immediately left when you first enter, is the Deli. There is a large assortment of products they offer, among them is pre-sliced meats and cheeses for the consumer on the go. As nice as the area is, you could only have three people there with carts comfortably.
I do suggest the store to buy out the next door store front to open the space in the deli and produce to feel it breathe. All in all, the experience is a good one. And, don't fret over the store being small and quaint. That's the charm that...
Read moreI try to write positive reviews, but this store (employees) are beyond ridiculous. My boyfriend (African American) and I had to stop in to pick up a Western Union payment and we stood at the customer service desk for literally 8-10 minutes while all employees, including the customer service lady, kept staring at us without saying a word. Then when she finally came over to us she says "what do you need?" No "hi" no "can I help you". Nothing polite. But whatever. Then we had to shop for a couple of items and people and other employees kept watching us, and one customer (not stores fault) stopped what she was doing and stared at him until he walked up to me. The whole experience left me feeling uncomfortable, I can only imagine how he felt. It's 2023 and he still feels uncomfortable walking into anywhere and it's pretty sad ANYONE has to deal with any of that. Needless to say, we will be back, close-minded people aren't...
Read moreFirst of all, I have to say I was very impressed and surprised to see how much this FoodLion had. The ones we had in our area were never this size nor did they offer anywhere near the amount of options of different foods as this one does. This is how martins on lavale use to look. Now they don't offer nearly as many of selections of yogurt or cheeses as this FoodLion does. I was genuinely impressed. Not to mention, how many markets can u go to now where they have 6 CASHIERS!! Live human beings actually waiting on you. That means they care enough about their customers and their workers. Which is very rare anymore. I will definitely recommend people going here even if it is out of their way. It is well worth it. I even ordered new food lion cards thru the mail. Thank you to everyone there who puts all the hard work and effort into making your store and the experience shopping...
