A Painful and Disappointing Experience at M Head Spa
My wife visited M Head Spa with the hope of enjoying a relaxing time while receiving specialized scalp treatments. Unfortunately, her experience was far from relaxing and deeply disappointing.
The staff at M Head Spa seemed inexperienced and lacked the finesse required for such treatments. Despite her requests for gentleness (as the pressure on scalp was way too hard), the associate handling her session had little understanding of pressure points. The scalp and later shoulder treatment turned out to be excruciatingly painful, far from the normal or somewhat soothing experience she and friends anticipated. Her feedback and requests for a bit gentler approach were ignored or misunderstood by the associate. Don’t get me wrong, we go to Thai massage and we’re used to high pressure. This place though when at the end worked on her sholders, pushed on bone vs. muscle! Basic knowledge... Just unaware of how to use pressure points, etc.
While the facility itself was small, it was clean, and parking was readily available, which were the only positive aspects of the visit. However, these minor conveniences were overshadowed by the overall poor service.
The most alarming part was the realization that this experience was not unique. As she was paying, she witnessed three other customers expressing their dissatisfaction with similar issues. It became evident to them all that M Head Spa struggles significantly with managing scalp treatments, contrary to their advertising on Instagram and frankly what seems fake influencer comments. It felt to the ladies more like an overpriced nail salon attempting to branch into scalp/hair care without the necessary expertise.
Communication was another major issue, as no one apart from the manager speaks English effectively. This language barrier further complicated the experience and made it difficult to convey discomfort and needs effectively.
Without any exaggeration, the aftermath of the visit has been a throbbing headache that has persisted into the next day, a testament to the excessive pressure applied during the treatment. And thus my review on behalf of my wife in pain at the moment.
In conclusion, we cannot recommend M Head Spa. Their advertising might be appealing, but the actual service and expertise in scalp/hair management are severely lacking.
This spa is a classic case of hype over substance, and I advise potential customers to seek treatment or even any hope for relaxation and hair care services elsewhere. Do not fall for the fake reviews...
Read moreThis was my first ever head spa treatment ever, so I didn’t have prior experience to compare. I want this review to help someone make an informed decision. It is also possible that my specific technician was absolutely a poor fit for me.
I thought the scalp analysis was interesting, cool to see what’s going on up there under the micro camera. Staff was friendly. But honestly, the headspa treatment was not a pleasant experience for me. I was under the impression that the actual treatment was supposed to be calming and relaxing, but I was so tense and uncomfortable most of the session. My assigned tech was extremely rough on my scalp. It’s post 2 days treatment and I’m still feeling soreness up there and I’m also feeling itchy, so it must have been more irritating and traumatic for my scalp than I originally realized. Also regretting adding on the extra back and neck massage. My tech had long nails and I could feel them digging through her gloves on the neck and shoulder massage. She rapidly ran (more like clawed) her fingers up and down my neck and deep scrubbed/scratched my upper back; by far the worst upper body massage I’ve ever received. To call it a massage would be a misnomer.
I was seriously giving it a chance, thinking the actual soft and relaxing massage and scrub would eventually come, but I often found myself hoping it would be over sooner. Maybe I was expecting too much from this, but I would assume that since they advertise providing a service to all hair types, they’d be more mindful of different textures and strengths of hair. I have a split dye and half my head is naturally course dark hair and half is fragile bleached hair. I was worried about how much breakage my colored side endured because of how rough my tech was. I had to tell her clearly and directly to be gentle on my bleached side because I could see my fragile blonde hairs trying to hang on for dear life as she hastily brushed through my entire head during the blow dry. It really showed her inexperience with my hair type(s).
I was so disappointed in this first time experience, and thought maybe I came in with the wrong expectations. So I asked friends who had head spa treatments. Some had similar rough experiences and some had soothing relaxing experiences. So I’d say that if you are looking for a good deep clean and like your scalp scoured rough, this place is fine. The staff is friendly. I will say my hair came out very soft and clean. Don’t think I’ll ever get a headspa treatment in the future,...
Read moreMy husband and I booked the "2hrs" deep scalp treatment, hoping for a relaxing time at this head spa. However, our experience was far from enjoyable. The issues started with the booking process, as they initially hesitated to accommodate us together. They wanted one of us to go first and then the second person would have to wait 30mins, unbelievable (that defeats the purpose of a couples spa).
Eventually, when we arrived they rushed us to the back to change. The robes provided were not inclusive for larger individuals, making it a struggle for comfort (the belcroe barley sticked & I weigh 200lbs.). We were then placed in a private room with massage chairs, but they only had it on for one-minute and they chose to turn it off. We couldn't convey what was going on because unfortunately there was a language barrier that hindered the communication as they did not speak English. They sat us there for a 30-minute treatment, where products were applied to our hair without any explanation. My husband was left unattended for 5 minutes, highlighting a lack of attention to customers.
Afterwards, they transitioned us to different chairs without clear instructions, we missed out on the arm massage feature, a detail overlooked due to poor communication. The blow-drying process left much to be desired, as staff offered minimal explanation and refused to recommend products, claiming they don't sell any.
Upon payment, M.H expressed dissatisfaction with our tip openly in front of new clients that had just walked in, creating an embarrassing situation. The push for a minimum of $60 tip per person was very unreasonable and left a sour taste. With very bad attitude, M.H began questioning our choice of tip and said that the tip was all that the workers who did our service were going to be paid. The long drive from Orange County based on enticing advertisements only added to the disappointment. No snacks were provided, and a tiny water bottle at the end hardly compensated for the overall lackluster experience.
In summary, the service fell short of expectations, and the unprofessional behavior during payment was a final blow. Sadly, we won't be returning, and I hope this review helps others make...
