The room was spacious enough. There was walking area between the beds and the dresser with the television on it, but not much more. Our room did come with a desk and a nice small kitchen area. The kitchen area did have a counter, a sink, coffee maker, and a small refrigerator. The area was nice and served as a great way to store food. We did store food in the refrigerator and on the counter without a single roach or ant in sight. We found no big issues with cleanliness, but the furniture looked a bit outdated. There were scratches and dents in some of the furniture, so don't expect a modern looking room.
The room itself ran a bit warm. The room did have a working air conditioner, but it ran a bit too strong. The room was either too warm or too cold. It was hard to find the great middle spot, and we ended up just using blankets and let the AC run. Sure, there are way worse issues than an AC unit that works a little too well. Once the AC was running it did cool down the entire room and restroom. It was really that strong.
The restroom was nice and big. Despite the large restroom, the toilet ran a bit small. I am a big guy, at 6'3", and I found the toilet a hassle to lower myself to. The shower was big, and I was able to shower without hunching over like in some other hotels/motels. We did not have any issues getting warm or hot water. Neither did we have to wait for the water to get warm or hot. My only real complaint is that the floor in the room become real slippery as soon as a little water got on it. I recommend walking in the restroom with some flip-flops or sandals.
When we checked in, we were told that our room would be cleaned every other day because we had asked for a week stay. We ended up staying for three weeks and our room was not cleaned that often. Our room ended up being cleaned every three days, and at one point, it was four. When asked for clean towels, the cleaning people would take our old towels and wash them. We were told that they would be brought back to us. This caused a problem as twice we would not get the towels the same day. We had to ask for towels as it was getting late one day they were taken, and the front office told us that the cleaning crew already left for the day. We did not get our towels until the next day. And even then, we only got them when we had to go up and ask the cleaning person that we happened to see cleaning the other rooms.
Despite the odd procedures, the staff is friendly and not rude. There was a lot of nice voices and nods. We did not have any issues with the staff.
The only left to write about is the extras; mainly the television and the internet. The television was fine, but the advertised cable channels was bad. There weren't that many channels and half of them had poor reception or connection. Only a few channels had watchable service. Thankfully, I brought along my Xbox One X and was able to (mostly) use that as my source of entertainment.
The Wi-Fi in the motel was spotty. At times the Wi-Fi speed was as high as 50 Mbps, but then would dip all the way down to 8 Mbps. This was mostly fine for streaming video off of YouTube, Hulu, Netflix, etc.. But, at times the video quality would drop and other times, the buffering would pause some videos. This mostly happened towards the evening, when I assume other guests were jumping on the router as well. The motel seemed to use one router for the whole motel and once everyone jumped on, the internet would drop speed. This was okay for basic internet and streaming, but was bad for online gaming. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare/Warzone, Fortnite, and Apex Legends, all got hit hard with lag. The only good time to play was in the morning, when there was not many people on the Wi-Fi. But overall, not a horrible experience.
That is what the motel really is - not a horrible experience. It was actually rather nice. We stayed on the second floor, and did not have many real issues besides some...
Read moreThe room was cozy like an apartment. Front office staff was very welcoming and helpful. The bathroom was spacious. Housekeeping great. Location great. n the laundry room has a washer and dryer. The dryer was not working. That was one of the reasons why we booked here for 7 days. However, front office said they did call but no one never came. We walked to a laundry a couple of blocks away. It had an incident on Wednesday, we were in our room. Next few minutes I heard a Sheriff say please come out the room # with your hands up. Just like in the movies. This must be went on for an hour could be more. (My husband was on his way back, told to wait at the front office just to be safe , he said there were police cars outside). Apparently the guy complied with the instructions and came out the room. It was scary yet unbelievable but funny. When I asked the front office if this ever happened the guy said No. I don't think this was something they could have prepared for especially depending on the nature of the situation but it was handled well. A little inconvenience but it was better to be safe than sorry. In the shower area the bathroom filled up pretty quickly and it took awhile to go down. Valley Inn should look into this. The breakfast was more like croissant and donoughts I do not really consider...
Read moreWe had to book this hotel last minute due to unforeseen circumstances. What can I say! Positives- good, safe location, near many amenities, easily accessible from the highway, comfy clean beds, no any bugs. Negatives- very dirty- I don’t think the room had been cleaned properly in years. The grime in the bathroom was terrible. The carpets had not been properly vacuumed in months. Whoever cleans their rooms probably just changes the beds and towels. Sad really. That place has such potential to be really good. Unfortunately my daughter was not well and we couldn’t move to a different hotel, otherwise we would have been out straight away. If you just want a quick nights sleep and aren’t fussy, it’s fine...
