Round Rock Amp — Local services in Round Rock

Extremely disappointed! Was very hopeful this venue was going to be the best thing to come to Round Rock, but unfortunately not impressed with the customer service or how they handled their “grand opening.”

Ok, so here’s my review after actually visiting this place.

So first, I bought tickets to April 2nd because this was advertised by THE VENUE as the GRAND OPENING. But after we bought our tickets we found out that they did a “2nd night” the night before. Now, I’m not a mathematician, but I’m pretty sure if you have a night before that’s not the 2nd night? So, I emailed, called, and tried to find out if there was anyway I could switch my tickets. The venue never responded until I posted a review. Then they told me they would help, but 4 hours later told me that I could buy new tickets for a minimum of what I spent for Saturday and that they would refund my Saturday tickets, so basically spend $150+ on frinday to get a refund for my $150 on Saturday, but they also told me they didn’t have any 4 packs available so I’d have to pay full price for my 4 seats. We ended up keeping our Saturday tickets.

Ok, now for the venue.

We took a Lyft to the venue. There were no photos, nothing so we were just blind going into it.

When the Lyft got up to the venue we weren’t able to turn into the parking lot cause it was closed off. Wish we would have got an email or something saying, “just get dropped off at panda express.”

We waited for about 20 minutes to get through the line to get in and when we finally got to the front they went from the 2 lines they had at security to 3. Should have had 4-5 lines open in my opinion.

The floor was insane. Wearing boots was a mistake, but for a country concert I would have expected better. They didn’t level the ground. There were areas that were sod with holes under it so you would step and twist your ankle, the parts that weren’t sod were wood chips, but not like garden wood chips, like they cut down trees and just left the biggest branches to save money.

The whole venue was flat for seating, so I could see just as good about mid seating as the 5th row could have. The seating was just basic plastic folding chairs.

The alcohol prices were insane and a couple drinks here was more than the cost of a normal date night bar hopping out in Downtown Round Rock. $15 + tax + tip ended up being over $20 for one tall can of Bud Light.

I’ve been to backyard concerts in college that were more organized. There were 1000+ people and only 30ish porter potty’s which had hundreds of people waiting to use.

I’d say in all of my years of going to various shows in multiple states & cities, as well as the old Nutty Brown Cafe location that this venue was worse than a packed house party show in someone’s kitchen and I would not pay more than $10 for a ticket going forward.

It’s a good start but needs a lot of work. The music was great of course but that’s about the only positive thing. There are very few signs with any instructions to find the place. There seems to be an entrance off of the interstate but you can’t get in through there as it is only for the performers. There’s a couple small signs you are going to miss that tell you where to turn to find parking, however once you get on the first road, for which there is no road sign, there is no parking sign or street sign showing you where to turn onto the second road, for which there is also no road sign. Once you find it through some small miracle, you are faced with parking in the dirt, or mud if it’s been raining, for $20 cash. There are no ATMs and there are no instructions beforehand that you’re expected to have cash for parking so I hope you have an extra $20 in your wallet. After that there is uneven terrain to walk on from the parking area. Once you walk into the venue it looks as if they just found a piece of unused green earth and decided to throw a venue on it with no planning. There are lots of porta potties but they start to smell if the weather is damp. Portable sinks run out of water and soap and paper towels before the end of the night. Maybe use part of the parking money to cover the supplies? The vendors are sparse but there are still different foods to choose from. Of course everything is ultra expensive, especially the alcohol. That’s to be expected. Seating is cheap foldable chairs zip-tied together, with no shade. The ground is flat so the person in front of you will block your view of the stage. But the worst part is the fact that there is no planning for drainage after a rain. I attended the Gary Allan concert with my daughter yesterday and the venue was a mud bath. We almost fell on our rears several times by slipping in the mud. They even had areas blocked off that were completely underwater. There’s also very little ventilation so in the hot weather you don’t feel much breeze. It was stifling in the 95° weather. To pay average of $100 per ticket and go home sticky from no ventilation and with mud up to my knees is unacceptable. Hopefully they will make improvements and this place will become five star. My mom, daughter, and I went to see Lainey Wilson there. Our time was cut short because I got to hot and overheated and started having seizures. I have a seizure disorder. The GA was entirely to packed. You barely could walk through to fight the lines of the bar or 3 food trucks that were there. My mom went to the first aid tent and told the guy working I was having seizures and he just sat there. She then went back after my 2nd seizure was over and explained I was overheated and having seizures. She asked for water, he told her it was at the bar, because they don't have water. Once we finally made it through the crowd I had #3 seizure. That's when your venues first aide team personel came into action. A guy who said he worked for your venue pushed my mom and daughter out of the way and held me down on my back while I was having a seizure. My mom intervened and my daughter found a firefighter and police officer. They moved your first aide staff member out of the way and tended to me where I had 3 more seizures. Another first aide responder wearing a yellow shirt, came up and she started making a barrier around me with other staff members who were wearing green shirts because bystanders were trying to record me. That staff member allowed me to have dignity and privacy during a very vulnerable moment that honestly never should have happened or gone that far. We of course left. I am not looking for a refund or tickets to go to another show. Because I will never be back. What I am looking for was someone to be decent enough to hear me and how my experience was. I am looking for an acknowledgement that your staff hired as first aide, the ones in the yellow shirt need more training. I guess I was looking for someone to be of decent humankind and reach out, afterall I have reached out via email and Facebook. Your venue has yet to respond a week later. But then again have you witnessed...
