Fortune Garden — Restaurant in Round Rock

The short version. Food is ok. Service is clearly lacking.

After leaving Bass Pro Shop for a Sunday afternoon errand, I decided I wanted some Chinese food and saw this place was nearby and open for dine-in. Some of the reviews were really good and I thought it was worth a try, especially when I saw a sign in the window that said "Dine In Welcome."

When I walked in, I was greeted from the counter and told to sit anywhere. I was able to scan their menu from my phone. I then ordered my iced tea. No sweetener on the table. I asked for it and it never showed up until I asked for it on a second visit to the table. Otherwise, the service was hit or miss on checking by the table even though less than three tables were occupied. And other than the silverware and the sweetener, the tables were empty -- and the staff wasn't friendly, so I didn't feel comfortable asking for lemon for the tea or soy for the rice or entree.

Food -- very mixed. The steamed potstickers were as good as any in town, if not better. Oddly, he rice for my entrée came out with the potstickers. Then the General Tso's Chicken came out VERY quickly after that. The chicken dish was dry and the sauce didn't really stick to the chicken nor did it add much flavor (or heat) to the chicken. And with as quickly as everything I ordered came out, I'm not sure that much of this wasn't pre-made as other reviewers have surmised.

While I don't venture to this part of Round Rock often, I'd definitely skip this. Their price point was slightly above average and I can pay less money where I get better food from people who appreciate...

I do not know if the cooks at Fortune Garden were having a personal bad day, but the experience I had was not pleasant. We ordered Salt and Pepper Tofu, General Tso's Chicken (Lunch), Beef Lo Mein, and some egg rolls.

First off, the Salt and Pepper Tofu was overcooked to the point that it resembled styrofoam. It was hard and unfortunately, I can tell that it would have tasted decent if it was fried for the correct amount of time. It was inedible.

Second was the General Tso's Chicken (Lunch). The sauce was okay, but the chicken was dry and overcooked as well. The Hot and Sour soup that came with it tasted like it has been in a unregulated vat since the previous day. Overly slimy and no flavor. I received egg rolls with the lunch meal and they were undercooked. I decided to air fry them so they are crispy, and they ended up tasting flavorless.

Lastly, the Beef Lo Mein..... I do not understand how 2/3 dishes that we received taste like nothing. It taste like sad. Like someone is having a bad day or month or life. Whoever was cooking today definitely showed their feelings through the food today, because it made me sad.

The quality probably reduced due to being takeout, but if the food was seasoned and cooked properly, I do not think the quality would go down that much. Maybe I'll try again, but I was left disappointed and had to reach out to my delivery service for...

Dishonorable business! Ordered the usual, got dried up, overcooked flavorless extra crispy "nuggets". Supposed to be general tso and orange chicken, you wouldn't know the difference since there was no sauce. This restaurant does not care about customers. They made us take the food back to prove we were not lying! The noodles are usually flavorless, but this time it was oily noodles. Who knows what they do with the food they ask for back, including noodles. We often ordered to go here because round rock doesn't have many options, we tried them all and this one was the least worst because they use white meat. Also, they are rude AF there, always stressed out and rushing. You're lucky to get eye contact. "Hurry up and buy" attitude, with some GTFO thrown in as well. Wish I could give 0 stars. Maybe this time we got someone else's incorrect order and they "refried" and served it to us, that is what it looked like.

They told us to bring the food back and they would remake it and refund us. Then argued with us and we had to argue to get the refund, and no food! They are liars, waste your time and take no pride in their business. No worries, I'm sure they dgaf about...
