Update: We returned to Joe’s to try some tacos in house and do a little shopping. I ordered the three taco plate with asada tacos and my wife tried a variety of different tacos - they were incredible.
I also tried a pastor taco my wife ordered and I cannot emphasize enough; best pastor taco I have ever had and that says a lot as I eat tacos almost daily LOL.
Asada tacos were amazing as well. The refried beans were freshly made and were fantastic.
Joe’s is a staple in Royse City and is known all over the Dallas area. Make sure you stop in and do some shopping and grab some food. Joe’s has a fantastic assortment of bbq ribs and spices and everything else you need from meats to treats!
Original Review: Stopped by Joe’s Meat Market as we were looking for some meats for tacos. Walked in and they have a mass variety of seasonings and rubs, all sorts of meats from pastor, chicken, carne asada and even tomahawk steaks and briskets and pork butts. Staff were also friendly and helpful.
Got home and made up the meat on the Le Griddle for tacos and we loved the flavor. It’s great having a new meat market to visit. We...
Read moreWe tried this place twice. First time for Father's day 2020. We picked up some t bones b/c they were out of the bone in prime ribeyes that we wanted. Smoked them for around 1.5hrs until medium rare. Was some of the toughest t bones I ever had. They were probably select so we looked past it. Second try was for July 4th 2020. Got some bone in "prime" ribeyes and some spare ribs. Grilled the ribeyes medium rare and they were just as tough as the t bones previously purchased. Next day smoked the spare ribs for around 4.5 hrs at 225-250F and they were very tough as well. We had to overcook the ribs until the meat was pulled back way to far from the bone tips to get them decently tender. I've been smoking and grilling for 15+ years and have never had prime beef nor spare ribs this tough. The spare ribs were frozen in a box and were not vacuum sealed. Not sure if this had anything to do with it but all pork ribs I've purchased are always vacuum sealed. I guess the saying "You get what you pay for" holds true...
Read moreGreat selection of meats, clean albeit small store. Lots of rubs, sauces and whatever else you may need for grilling. Giving 3 stars for the food, it seems very Tex-Mex rather than authentic Mx food. Sunday morning & we ordered pastor tacos, torta with suadero, menudo and chorizo & egg burrito. Pastor meat on the tacos is underdone and doesn't have great flavor, meat tastes gamey and old as well. Suadero meat on the torta is very dry and tasted more like carnitas. Menudo does not have hominy, the meat is all fatty pieces, also tastes old, like about to expire meat. Menudo comes with cilantro and onions, does not come with limes. Chorizo and egg breakfast burrito was the only one i really enjoyed out of my whole order, they put lots of cheese...
