Walmart Auto Care Center — Local services in Ruidoso Downs

The guys at Ruidoso Walmart Auto Center are heroes and our roadtrip would have been an absolute disaster without them! Our SUV got a flat tire about 40 miles away in Tularosa, and while we got the donut tire on, every other tire center already closed at 5pm on a Saturday. We called ahead to check that they carried the tire size we needed, but when we arrived 5 minutes to closing, the garage doors were already closed and locked. Thankfully, the staff were so helpful and understanding of our situation (we'd have to stay overnight in town because our home base was 300 miles away), they brought the jack out to the parking lot, sold us a new tire, inflated the new tire, and installed it. They stayed after hours to get our car back on the road and I can't properly thank them for how appreciative we are that they were willing to help total strangers when they could've just closed up shop for the day. Lies and deceptive advertising. I was first in line for a standard oil change which was advertised at $19.95. I was told they didn't have Quaker State and would have to upgrade to a more expensive oil change at almost double the advertised price. Ok I said since I was already in line and made a special trip. I asked to please lubricate underneath the chassis as it is included in the price. I came back to pick up my car and overheard another associate telling a customer that the grease gun does not work and had not worked in the year he had worked there! If you can't offer something take the sign down! Instead of hoping to upsell the customer on a more expensive service. Don't lie to your customers. I doubt they even used the more expensive oil and had to go home and check to see if if I even had a new oil filter or that the oil was clean and changed at all because I had been lied to multiple times in...

They closed 3 hours early due to reportedly being short staffed. I'd go use either Big O or Chuck's Tire, they rock. So, I have to say, a lot of the results you get with a place have to do with who you deal with and can very depending on day. A few days after my bad experience, I went back for another reason for a neighbor and the prices on batteries are AMAZING! Especially compared to some other places I have used recently.
