We purchased a game, Kirbys Epic Yarn, from Game X Change * close to closing time and were rushed out of the store during our purchase. Upon getting the game home I realized it was defective. We planned on returning it the next day with our receipt but early in the morning, my wife who is 8 months pregnant fell and landed on her belly. We spent the majority of our day in the hospital making sure our baby was ok and in all the commotion of the day, misplaced our receipt. We hoped they could help considering the circumstances but were met with rude comments and attitude. We received no sympathy and were told to wait for the "owner". When she arrived she looked at the defective game and then proceeded to say that we were the cause of the game not working and after being cordial and polite we were met with hostility and accusations that simply are not true, when all we wanted was another copy of the game we bought our 4 year old son.. We were told something heavy was dropped on it and that it hadn't left the store in that condition when in fact it did. So, being out the money for the game, I persuaded my upset wife to just leave and tossed the game on the counter as it was useless to us anyway. It slid off the counter and the owner proceeded to pick it up off the floor and threw it as hard as she could in our direction as we were leaving and it crashed into the door in front of us. My very upset pregnant wife left crying and I left furious but still composed and as we walked out the door were informed we would be arrested if we were to ever come back. I would like to see a peaceful resolution to this matter and wish we had a better experience. This has soured us deeply and I can't believe this happened to us. This place needs new owners or to shut down. I've reported them to the BBB in Little Rock and got their A+ rating taken down to a C because they didn't even attempt to respond to the Better Business Bureau. I've also lodged a formal complaint with Game X Change's corporate offices to inform them of everything including the drop in BBB rating and am currently awaiting a response in hopes...
Read moreI went into Game X Change in Russellville asking for a Nintendo brand gamecube controller. I was informed that they did not have any Nintendo brand gamecube controllers. However, the store owner showed me a selection of 3rd party (as in not Nintendo brand) gamecube controllers. I was skeptical. I have bought 3rd party controllers before and they did not work the same as Nintendo brand. Therefore, I specifically asked if the controller functioned the same as a name brand one and was readily assured by the staff (AND THE OWNER) it did. I even pressed further by informing them I had bought 3rd party controllers before and they did not work. In the end, I paid $15 for the controller and took it home to play. Within seconds of opening it, I realized I had been duped. It was significantly different than a name brand one. The "A" button would barely register on any game and the L trigger had to be held down for a few seconds before it would register. I immediately took it back, with a receipt. I complained of the buttons not working properly. They tested the controller and the worker had to MASH the buttons to get them to respond. After they did, the owned looked at me blankly and said "it works. There's nothing we can do." After I began to complain a bit more she finally turned to me and said "you said you were going to take a chance on the 3rd party controller. It works fine. There's nothing we can do except buy it back from you." When I asked how much they would buy it back for, I was told $1. I then walked out.
Basically I was talked into buying a crappy controller by the store owner. When it partially worked, I was told it worked fine. When I complained, I was told to sell it for $1 or leave. When the owner (a female) walked away, the worker behind the desk apologized to me and said if she (the owner) wasn't there, he would have taken it back.
Three take-aways from this review:
Don't ever go to Game X Change in Russellville.
Don't ever buy a 3rd party controller for a gamecube.
Don't ever go to Game X Change in...
I have a service dog. The first time I came into this store I was harassed by the employee for an ID card (which isn't legally required and isn't accredited. I can get my jar of nutella registered as a service dog.) I explained the laws and was continually told I had to leave. I fought for my rights and was able to stay and purchase the things I wanted to purchase. I have dreaded going back in but today I finally did. I am so proud of them. They asked me the two legal questions and allowed me to continue about my business. They were polite and courteous. I am so glad that they've read up on the laws. Thank you! Accommodations are the reason I can live my life and feel safe. You have shown maturity and growth and you definitely have my business!
A couple things I'd like to say to the owners directly: I appreciate the employee who asked us these questions. He deserves a raise honestly. I do however think that it's incredibly weird that you actually watch the cameras so much that you called to make sure he asked me these questions. That makes me slightly uncomfortable at walking into your store. But I understand why you take precautions. Before posting this review I read all previous ones of your store. As a completely friendly tip, I'd like to let you know that the way you come across in some of your responses to negative reviews is very unprofessional and highly confrontational. It's important to remain calm and be helpful even when someone is irate. It might be in your best interest not to drag customers through the mud for leaving a negative review. They are still potential customers after all! Stay positive and...
