I feel like the social clique elites are ruining the "Planet Fitness" brand.
When I first joined. I reached out to the Assistant Manager to establish a professional relationship. They recoiled as if I were a threat to them?
As time went on, during two separate occasions, I've heard this AM state "That's what I heard..." Letting me know that spreading gossip and rumors is a part of what they do.
For this AM, it's seemingly a kind of defense mechanism. If they feel threatened, they spread gossip and rumors to damage the reputation of said threat. The problem is, they behave as though they feel threatened everywhere they go. All I did was be friendly to them. That was my crime?
Over the next two years, there have been many new hires reach out to the membership, to create professional relationships. Those new hires were gone shortly after.
I can't believe I'm watching this happen. If a new hire is friendly with a member, the clique runs them off? I've seen many good people, that bring the right vibe, who did not last long. Apparently "they DON'T belong".
I get the feeling that the clique is making this happen. If a new hire is friendly with members, then the clique will have to be friendly with the members also. It's easier just to get rid of the new hire. Thus eliminating any competition and maintaining the poor culture.
It looks like there are an elite few who are a part of the culture, including the AM. Stand behind the desk, spread gossip and rumors, hurt people, do little else. The rest of the staff go along with it to keep the peace. The clique is friendly with some members but, for most of us, the clique could care less.
At some point, the home office in New Hampshire is going to read this. When that happens, the right people are going to ask a lot of questions about what all of you are doing at PF, Saginaw MI, West. Running off good people who create the right atmosphere is bad for business. Running off good people who reach out to members is bad for business.
Company records will show how many hires did not make a 1 year anniversary. How much money is being lost on hires?
There are staff that have the right kind of social strength. These are the people who could excel.
The irony in this...some of them have now BECOME the very thing that they say others are. Just because we're not a part of THEIR clique.

To the owner: Promoting this AM shows us that this is what you think leadership looks like. Then, without you knowing, they operate behind the scenes. Seemingly a poor judge of character on your part.
Sincerely, The Free...
Read moreI have been going to the Saginaw Planet fitness for over a year . Every time I try to shower after a work out the water is cold. No matter how long it runs or even if you try different showers it is always freezing. I've brought it to the attention of employees multiple times, but nothing ever changes. I've stopped going for months at a time , and have went to different locations instead. Then I come back to give it a try and still , ice cold water . I am sure I am not the only one who has complained about this. I find it unacceptable. Also there has been a few times in the past that I have tried tanning and once I get into the tanning machine, multiple bulbs are out . I have notified staff and came back days later to be put into a different machine and find that that one too has bulbs (not just one) out. I let the staff know and am told that they can only have someone come in about once a month to change bulbs. (In other words they know the bulbs are out, but still having people tan in them). Wi-Fi is poor quality as well. Signal cuts in and out, and I have tried multiple devices and have brought multiple guests who have an issue with it as well. to me this just seems extremely cheap and disrespectful to members who are paying to use this facility. My impression is this location does not care about customers, rather they care about making the most money with the least quality and expense from their end.
In response to the "response from owner": As I previously stated, I have spoke to staff, this includes "management" . Obviously nothing made a difference. Bare minimum would be to have things in proper working condition , that is what everyone is paying a gym membership for. You can't expect people to pay for a membership that includes certain amenities for them to find out that the amenities do not provide the expected minimum service. Seems like common sense. I shouldn't have to go repeatedly request that things are maintained in...
Read moreThis place is very busy, even though it seems they have quite a bit of equipment. Trying to get a treadmill or elliptical around 4-8 pm during the week is quite the challenge. People are standing behind treadmills to get on after your finished. But I can't hate on people who are trying to better themselves, its just busy after workdays so you just have to look pass it. I would recommend morning workouts if you can fit it in your schedule. The facility is big but their still isn't enough equipment it seems. They have a good selection of free weight for dumbbells. They could use another smith machine and another machine for pull ups, chin ups, tricep dips, etc. I wish planet fitness would have some free weight barbells, but im pretty sure none of them do. This place is clean for the most part. They need a bigger section for abs and stretching. Locker rooms are clean for the most part, but I can only speak for the male side of things. Tanner is ALWAYS busy. People are always waiting for the tanner and may take a half an hour to get in there. My wife says their pretty nice. I think she said their hexes and not beds whatever that means. Workers are hit or miss when it comes to customer service. Some of the male workers there are total idiots, but my theory is go to the gym get your workout done, clean your equipment, and leave. Its impossible to not see some of these male workers just goofing off and not doing their jobs. I am quite confident this happens at most planet fitness. Overall its a good place for your workouts and you can't beat the price of the gym membership and its equipment, but with the gym always comes some...
