NEEDED FOLLOW-UP TO READ AT THE END REGARDING HANDICAP ACCESS AND ISSUES BEING ADDRESSED!
First of all, this Ace is NOT HANDICAP FRIENDLY! This store claims to be handicap accessible and Google allows them the wheelchair icon, yet they stock so much product in the entrance I do not believe this is true. If there were ever a fire, someone in a wheelchair would find it very difficult to navigate this very congested entrance to escape. I went in with my mobility device and no one said a word. I went to padlocks, and needed help, but none was to be found. I even waved at the camera on the ceiling but no one seemed to be watching. I made my selections as best I could and went to checkout. As I paid, thats when the cashier gave me a lot of grief over my mobility device. She said "we have something you could use, you just need to ask us so we can put it together." I said I have this, and she tried so hard to not say what you could tell she wanted, but she didn't say it. Then I asked her why would I wait for you to put something together to shop here? She couldn't answer. Just not handicap friendly and no help to be found ever. Not to mention they are so over priced. I priced 1/4" steel vinyl coated cable... Ace wants $1.79 per foot. Found it a mile away for $.79 per foot, A DOLLAR LESS PER FOOT! Thats a lot! Never going into Ace Great Lakes again ever. Snooty & snobby cashiers giving grief to the handicapped. I didn't choose this disability.
ADDITION: About an hour ago, I got a reply to this review from Great Lakes Ace apparently from the (owner). In the reply there was instructions to go to website and leave a brief description and contact info so management team can reach out to me. Tried to by on the website, the CAPTCHA just spins endlessly and never lets the submission through. There is a phone number, tried calling TWICE now, no one to take my call! Just like the store, NO ONE AVAILABLE TO HELP! Speaks for itself ACE!
NEEDED FOLLOW-UP: After all my attempts to contact failed, I sent a letter. The letter was routed back to the store from their main office. The store manager Dan, he and I made contact on the phone. He acknowledged many of my concerns regarding handicap access, especially in an emergency situation. He assured me it is and will be addressed as well as spacing within the store. It was a VERY positive and productive conversation. We discussed the situation regarding employees and Dan mentioned my letter to be used of training new employees in regards to handicap needs and devices. He invited me back to the store and wished to meet me, which one day soon I hope to do. I am very happy that this was finally addressed and in such a productive and positive way. Thank you Ace...
Read moreI'll start off by saying if I could give them 0stars I would. Ive gone here regularly to get supply's for my father in law's house paint and what not. The reason I go for him is because he is a disabled Vietnam vet. I would always use his card for the purchases and nothing was ever said they had even asked the manager if it was okay because I explained to them the situation. The last and final time I went I had purchased some paint and rollers to finish his house and as usual the girl had to check with the manager to make sure it was okay and for some reason this manager I had never met before told me I couldn't complete the purchase it was company policy that I couldn't complete the purchase without him present with an ID I understand that it's company policy if that was the case I should never had been able to make the purchase before but any way I went home got my disabled father in law out of bed who didn't want to get up to go to the store. When I had told the manager that he was a disabled Vietnam pilot he could have cared less just smiled and walked away. Honestly though all the other staff there is really nice and helpful this is the only problem I've had unfortunately I will never return...
Read moreWe returned a few items here about a week and a half ago after we over estimated how much we needed (it was purchased and returned within three hours). After giving the store some time to refund the money, we realized we hadn't received the returned money after 10 days. We called today, and were very understanding about the situation. Yet Tom, who we spoke to on the phone, was the rudest "manager" we have ever spoken to. The response we got was "it seriously took you 10 days to realize this?" Yes, Tom, because we gave your store some extra time to get it together and send the funds. We received no apology for THEIR mistake, nothing. The only information we get is that we are screwed unless we have our receipt, then we are told MAYBE someone can assist us if we go into the store with it. We come here all the time and have always had pleasant experiences with the other employees, but Tom needs to find a new job, preferably outside of...
