I use to love this place when it first came here, but the last month to 6 weeks prices have went up up up. A child hoodie used Under Armour,Nike... 19.98, a pair of used Nike, Adidas, 24.98, a child's coat USED 44.98, and this is just a few things that I'm mentioning, Go to an outlet store or Rossss NEW and cheaper, and then I went for the. 98cent tags, and I got there 3rd in the door they had pulled 80% already of the tickets that were suppose to be. 98 cents, headed to several areas a very nice employee was waking away with a rack of children's jeans, I ask if this was all the ones for 98 cents, she said yes, I said can I look at them please, I bought like 12 pairs, and a couple hoodies, literally every rack you could see had been gone through, all the shoes were already gone. This is false forced selling. They get you on there but pull 99% of all tickets before 9:30am. Monday. I asked a lady over in ladies because I was looking for jeans and tops for me, she said yes I'm pulling all them we have a quota and they take up to much of space for new merchandise. I told her that was basically ripping people off that come in here because they saw the ticket sale. You know the our out pricing RED RACKS and at least Red Racks puts there stuff that's .78 cents on Sunday on roller racks and carts up against walls so you can still get those items. At Grand opening the Big shots were there and said yes or prices will remain low and we will have multi ticket sales each week. Explained it and now he supposedly had told them they need to get more quota or each day. So who cares about the sales that were suppose to be so great, and the lower prices.... ha ha, they are higher on more things now then Red Racks. Remember this is all donated things from garage sale, closets, estate sales. Also I use to go buy the really nice prom dresses and shoes to donate to Cinderellas closet for girls who can't afford even the high thrift store prices. Now they are all gone out the start prices are too high. Remember CINDERELLAS CLOSET "NEEDS" these for girls who other wise wouldn't go. And I'm sure there are young men or there that could just mens suits, tux and dress shoes, more boys don't go then girls because there is not a place for them... They need a Prince...
Read moreI. Shop Thrift World St. Joseph MO at least once a week. I was in there last week and was the next in line behind a woman and a young girl. The cashier a 40 something year old asian man while ringing up her under garments spoke inappropriately and in my opinion out of lin.e. It was obviously making her uncomfortable but she did not say anything in response even though he continued to make comments through the whole transaction. The young girl literally looked at me and mouthed OMG! When she was walking out i heard a woman call her over and asked her if she could cover an afternoon shift. Apparently i had just witnessed a thrift world employee being sexually harassed by another Thrift World employee. It is sad that woman tolerates that behavior. Because she has a family to take care of and needs her job. Prior to this experience i was in their and a small shorter woman checking me out was rude and had very poor customer service skills. I returned the next week and lucky me that same woman checked me out again. Her behavior with not just me but other customers was inexcusable in my opinion. That time i noticed her name tag. It read Brandi i really like thrift world but these things will keep me from shopping their. The management at that store at the. Very least needs reevaluated and probably reassinged elsewhere. I would be afraid of losing good employees or even worse a sexual harassment suit. I hope this review gets results for that woman who needs her job. What i witnessed happened at checkout in front of customers. I can only imagine what must go on in...
Read moreSo disappointed. I only leave ratings if I love or hate something. Went to thrift world with both of my kids and came across a small Thomas the Tank Engine train. It didn’t have a price on it so I assumed it was either a toy that a kid left or the tag was taken off. When I brought it upfront, I mentioned this to the clerk. The clerk told me they would not be able to sell it to me and instead would have to take it in the back, price it, and put it back out tomorrow. This seemed very shocking to me as this is an establishment where you pay money to buy used things and this toy probably cost less than a dollar. I asked to speak to the manager to see if they would be able to help me with what I imagined was a simple issue to resolve. The manager came out and was just as unhelpful.
At this point, I was so disappointed and my son was upset that we just decided to leave and I didn’t purchase the other items in my cart. As I was walking out, I realized I left an item of food in the cart for my son. I turned back around to go in, and as I was entering, the clerk was throwing my blueberries away. I said that that was my cup and he handed it back to me saying he was sorry although he never tried to find me after I left the store (was gone 10 seconds).
Overall- so frustrated that I couldn’t even purchase an item at this thrift store and that my food was thrown away. Completely unimpressed by the staff and the policies at thrift world. Will not be going back. They seem unfriendly to families and don’t actually care about...
