Intuitive and kind. My PT has been good. Double gluteal repair.
Fast forward to months later after a second surgery. My 'exit' review basically told my WC Doctor that I was questionable as far as abilities? Like I was holding back. I explained to the PT evaluater that the pain was getting worse after 'Work Hardening'. In part because of her review, my Doctor said I was at full medical recovery even though I was still in really bad pain, and I could work with no restrictions, so finally I went to a Pain Management specialist who ordered a new MRI, which showed scar tissue growing all around the surgical site, Not surprised since the surgical site got infected. He was surprised that a post surgical MRI hadn't been done, since I was complaining of increasing pain. There were other issues that occured during and after anesthesia, but that's another mess, which I told my symptoms to Doctor and PT.
Both Physical Therapists were nice. The evaluater thought she knew everything. Was judgemental (right before evaluation for second surgery...I had hip and back injury), I asked her if she knew what I did. She explained in detail what my job was because she had toured the company. Not...even...close to my job description. They don't take tours to my job location. She was ticked off when I told her this. Probably embarrassed, maybe angry that I was astounded, because I had previously given her details and my reaction wasn't great (I was like, "Are you kidding? That's not what I do!"). Her evaluation has cost me so much in time, money and actually getting back to normal. An ortho specialist basically says I need spine stabilization...not the surgery that I already had. Evaluator needs to check herself. She did a lot of damage. The 2 PT's I worked with were fine. 1st one was awesome, but she has left the company. I'm doing my own PT now...and now I'm terrified of anesthesia and surgery. Nobody listens to the patient, anymore. It's like we're on an assembly line and we should all react the same to injuries & healing. And the back surgery I got...was the wrong one for what I needed. My original experience at this company was good, but my second experience...
Read moreAfter a bad ankle fracture, and spending 8 weeks without standing on it, I was directed to Axes by my doctor and by friends who shared positive referrals. My initial call to the St. Peters location was much more efficient and simple than I often experience when calling for medical appointments! I hung up and thought, "Well, that was easy." Natasha is always pleasant and professional. She greeted me by name every time I walked in the door. Thank you, Natasha, for getting me off to a comfortable start and making me feel welcome as I began an anxious process of getting back on both feet!
Shawn Heck was my therapist. He took the time to ask me lots of questions up front before beginning treatment. He learned what I had done, what I was currently experiencing, and most importantly to me, what my goals were. He started me on light stretches and exercises that I could tolerate (that ankle was barely waking up at the beginning). Improvement seemed to come daily. And as it did, he kept challenging me to go just a little more at each appointment. He knew what I wanted to accomplish, listened to my feedback, and was a great "coach" to push me with strengthening and stretching which will help me accomplish my goals.
There was a point in time where I over-did it at home over a weekend, and had some extra pain and swelling as a result. So Shawn backed off the intensity for an appointment or two, and I was able to get back on track quickly. After 6 weeks of PT under Shawn's direction, I'm amazed at how much better my ankle feels, and how close to "normal" I've gotten this quickly. I truly enjoyed my visits to Axes St. Peters, and I appreciate the positive, encouraging environment (right down to the wall mural ... "Don't tell people your plans. Show them your results. Finish!"). I would recommend Axes St. Peters to anyone who needs PT ... and if I ever need PT again, I'll go here, and will...
Read moreLet me start with, “Axes PT ROCKS!!” One of my biggest worries when heading into my recent total knee replacement was physical therapy. I have been through quite a bit of PT in the last 20 years between ACL (3 times), meniscus, manipulation, and shoulder surgery.
I can’t say enough good things about Axes PT and their therapists but I’m going to list a few!
Amanda (at St. Peter’s) is AMAZING…I’m not just saying that. She is hands down the best PT I’ve ever had. She’s smart, talented and very creative! She is compassionate, she listens, but most importantly she pushes me…when pushing is needed - and she knows the limit!
This group of talented therapist and support staff work as ONE team and it’s evident EVERY time I walk in! They leverage each other’s ideas and inputs! I’ve never seen anything like it!
all of the staff know my name, it’s personable and enjoyable to go! I actually don’t mind going to PT (even when I have multiple PTs pushing in my knee)
the care is genuine …. All of the therapist ask how I’m doing, offer suggestions, and care about my healing! It’s amazing!
it’s always so clean! It simply amazes me how many patients come and go, but even at 5pm the place is spotless!
Amanda, Nick, Sean, Zack, Jordan, Ellie, Tasha (I’m sure I’m missing a couple) thank you for the amazing care, for exhibiting what team work can accomplish, and for being amazing genuine people! THANK YOU! I hope I never need PT again but if I do, you’ll be my choice,...
