Would not even give 1 start but this is the only option. I was at this location for the first time and doing our normal Friday routine of margs and queso. Never had an issue like this before and never truly want to because how embarrassing? I was seated at a booth and the server started to take our drink order. I was ordering a small marg and a water and had my ID in hand because I will always be the ones to be ID even though I’m 25 years old, I look young. Fine. The server took my ID and walked away (never had that) and I guess took it to the scanner. The server came back with my state issued ID from Missouri that I’m well over 21 threw it on the table and said I was denied? Never once as I tried to explain that’s not right I use this ID to buy alcohol, nicotine, etc and just used it after this experience to only find out my ID works fine with scanners that is at the casino did the server cared, he took one good look at me and that was it. However why I’m writing a review is because as I am leaving the restaurant the server choose to have every employee standing right next to the door gossiping about our table, giving me nasty looks all the way to my car and was pointing at me. The entire restaurant had eyes on me when if I did that at my job, I’d be walking out also. The server was not understanding, choose to treat me differently when there were young adults eating and drinking a marg who looked as young as me! To not only that having employees not doing their job but starring me down until I’m in reverse is a bit uncalled for. Again I understand the steps most restaurants have to take because people who are minors ruin it for us adults and I was NEVER one of those kids. I waited patiently to earn my legal rights to drink. I NEVER want to experience this again! I did get into the casino with my STATE ISSUED ID and never once got laughed at, starred at or watched because I am ABOVE THE AGE OF DRINKING. Next time I’ll bring in my birth certificate just so you guys cannot treat someone the way you did on...
Read moreMy family went to El Maguey on Mexico road for a celebration. There were 16 of us and they sat us at one long table at the entrance of the restaurant. We were freezing every time the door was opened. We received chips and salsa. The salsa was overly salty and not at all spicy. The waiter came and got a few peoples drink orders, left and didn't return until the drinks were done. He then got additional drink orders and repeated this process 2 more times. We had all asked for water and only 1/2 of us received water. We consumed all of the chips and salsa while we waited and waited for menus. We never received menus for a staff member so I got up, found the menus and passed them out. I hadn't even gotten back to my chair when we were asked if we were ready to order. I told the waiter that I had just given everyone the menu and we would need some time. I also asked for more chips and salsa. He returned in just a couple of minutes with just chips. We then ordered our meals. The last person to order received her meal all by itself less than 5 minutes after we had placed the entire tables order. I think her meal was made by mistake for someone else and they just dumped in on us. WE then received some salsa. It was an additional 10 minutes before the rest of us got our food. My meal was TERRIBLE. I ordered a beef tostado and a quesadilla. I received a couple broken tortilla chips topped with mushy, unseasoned hamburger and smothered with lettuce and at least 1/3 cup of sour cream. I cut the quesadilla in 1/2 and there wasn't enough cheese in it. It was like eating a gooey tortilla. This was the worst Mexican food I have ever eaten. The service was TERRIBLE. The food was awful! I will never go back and would encourage others to go to another one of the better Mexican restaurants...
Read moreI don't normally go out of my way to write about a bad experience, I just don't go to that place again. However, I thought I would share my experience I had at this El Magueys this evening.
My girlfriend and I ate at this El Magueys for dinner. She was enjoying her food, and I was almost done with my burrito. I cut open the last fold of it and inside the burrito was a hair. Okay, no big deal, i'll just mention it to the waiter the next time he comes by. I did so, and the waiter preceded to bring over another waiter and the manager (I presume) of the location. They examined the hair, and the manager said that there was no way the hair belonged to any of their kitchen staff. I sat there confused, and also noticed they looked at my girlfriend while they said that. Ok, message received, so you guys thought I put my girlfriends' hair in the food to get a free burrito. How dare you. Honestly, I wasn't trying to get free food, I just wanted a nice dinner with my girlfriend. After the manager left without giving an apology, the waiter stuck by for a moment and apologized.
The rest of the dinner went as you'd expect, I kinda just sat there awkwardly while my girlfriend enjoyed her food. I also got some looks from the other table across so that was nice. I paid my bill and left a $12 tip for the waiter who apologized.
To the waiter, thank you for apologizing, even though it wasn't your job to do so. It was the managers.
To the manager, while I appreciate the discount on my burrito, it wasn't about that. I wanted an apology from you and I did not receive one.
I will not be returning to this El Maguey location and...
