Prefacing this review by saying it costs $30 to try on dresses here, and that is non-refundable unless you purchase a dress (the deposit then goes towards that) - and it is not worth it. There are plenty of other bridal shops in the area that do off the rack and consignment with a much better experience, pricing, and stock. I am a bridesmaid for my cousin and we were all very excited to visit a shop that aligns with our low waste values. We've visited places like this before with good experiences, so we were looking forward to possibly finding the one here. This was our third appointment of the day, so we felt pretty familiar with the routine. This immediately did not feel as comfortable, accommodating or inviting as the others.

The owner did our appointment and started off with a very rigid set of rules, which were understandable. However, the first red flag to me was the way she said "You will get down to your bra and underwear and I will dress you", to my cousin. I completely understand the fact that these are her products and their care is important, but the way it was demanded was very off-putting and could really make some people uncomfortable.

We perused the stock and didn't find much in my cousin's price range. This was surprising, as the dresses were very dated. The pricing for something decent was averaging between 1200-2700, despite being assured there were plenty between 500-1000. again, we had visited 2 other shops prior, and everything off the rack at both shops was under 1k and still in style.

After the final dress was tried on, I made a quiet innocuous comment to my friend, another bridesmaid, saying "well, we may as well just head back to the first store", a harmless quip as it had been a long day. However, the owner heard this and made a remark about us just deciding to go back to the first store, seeming offended. My cousin was still interested in continuing to look, but after this she pulled one more dress for her to try on, then she practically walked us out the door and was not interested in assisting us any further.

I had THE MOST wonderful experience getting my wedding dress here! I only had a 3-month engagement and had to buy off the rack. I searched and searched at many stores, found dresses I liked but there was always at least one thing that I didn’t like about each dress. Too many low-cut and revealing busts, beautiful back OR front of the dress but not both, or it was strapless when I really wanted straps. I am 41 years old and have never been married. I have envisioned for many years what my wedding dress would be like. I was extremely disappointed that seemingly all the dresses were not what I wanted, or completely blew my budget. I searched for 5 weeks!! As a last attempt, I came to Brides By Design, after calling another bridal store who said they didn’t have much to buy off the rack because they just sold most of them to a bridal consignment shop. I thought, “Bridal consignment? Never knew that even existed.” Immediately I searched for a bridal consignment near me. I found Brides By Design. Sarah, who recently bought this shop, was BEYOND helpful! She was the only one working in the shop at the time, and she helped me 1 on 1, bringing so many different dresses that matched what I said I was looking for. Most within my budget! When I put one dress on my sister exclaimed, “That’s it! That’s your dress! It’s all the things you wanted and I have never seen a more beautiful dress!” And she was right! This was THE dress! Sarah was also working tirelessly to help my mom find a Mother-of-the-Bride dress as well—which she found a few sizes too big but had it altered to make her look stunning as well. I would recommend this shop over and over again! I bought my dress, earrings, feather hairpiece, and my mom bought her dress—all here. We were flooded with nothing but compliments on my wedding day. I bought a dress from this shop that was a great experience,at that time the owner stated she could alter my dress and quoted me a cost.I wanted to make an appointment then she asked the wedding date which is 6/15/19 she said oh you have time. I had called many times with NO answer left messages with No return call I finally decided to text did get a response and set a date and time ,Which was yesterday at 5:30 p.m. (45)days before may wedding.One of my bridesmaids drove all the way from Hawk Point Mo to have here dress altered as well. 5:30 pm come and went the shop was closed with no sign on the door.I called and called left a message NO response I text she texted back (My mom got sick sorry) I understand that part BUT a professional would of contacted a client and rescheduled the appointment and let them know they wouldn't be open.She also stated you didn't have a confirmed appointment,Well I sure did have a confirmed appointment by her own text.
