EAT HERE! We ate burritos and chimichangas. Can we add a second meet with your shrimp for $2.50 more. I thought that was fair. It was quite delicious. We had a shredded chicken and shrimp burrito. Also add one each of the chimichanga and burrito ground beef with shrimp. This is our first time at this restaurant. I saw the ratings but yet I was surprised at how good it was! Honestly I saw the drive-thru and I thought well let's go eat somewhere else. I looked at the menu in the pictures and said now we're going to eat here. I'm so glad we decided to eat there! I thought of my friend Angel who is from mexico. And he said of another place this is where you want to eat because it tastes like my grandmother made it. I think Angel would say the same of this place. I even mentioned to other people in our party that it tastes like somebody's grandmother made this. It's so fantastic. Two women came by and it was their grandmother's recipes that they were using and rediscovered in conversation. The people was so nice! I had left a light on in my vehicle apparently and the battery was drained enough. One of the men from the restaurant and jump our battery. The atmosphere inside the restaurant is quite pleasant. It seemed to me that there was a lot of regulars there. After they ate people sat and talk for a while. We got Harry's Big burrito and it was approximately $15 and we added the shrimp for $2.50 more and they gave us several pieces. I thought it was generous because if you just ordered a shrimp by itself and no other meat they had a surcharge of $1. So for just $2.50 more we got a load of shrimp and a load of chicken or ground beef is what they got. The cheese queso with fantastic. I don't know what they do differently but I've never tasted anything quite like that. When I mention this to the lady she said that was her grandmother's recipe. But there was another person that they had their grandmother's recipes that they used as well. They had a bean dip that they served along with their salsa and supper containers. I liked it as well. The salsa had a nice tomato taste to it in my opinion. We like chips as well. The soda and tea I had a good taste. So many places they just don't add enough flavor. Here it tasted quite fine. The restaurant was clean and they stayed on top of it. The restaurant was colorful and festive. They even had a Easter photo seat. The restrooms are clean. There's plenty of parking. A great...
Read moreThe food is NOT good enough to justify these prices. In fact the food here is not good at all. The chips and salsa actually tasted like vomit, particularly the chips. The food was bland and unseasoned. The chicken was whiter than me. Seriously how are you going to have a Mexican restaurant and not season the food? The prices are higher than most other Mexican restaurants in the area but the food is marginally worse. I was excited for a new Mexican restaurant in town but I'll probably never be back. I'll just keep eating at the places that do it better. As for the service, I mean, it was pretty slow. My server immediately tried to take my table's order when we sat down and when we asked for "a minute to look at the menu" she gave us 10. Made us feel like if we aren't willing to be rushed then we have to deal with being neglected. The food came pretty quickly after we ordered, but it was delivered by a different person, not our server.
Also, this doesn't really affect the rating, but this place used to be a Steak N Shake and you can tell. It feels like no effort was made to try to give this place an identity other than "used to be a...
Read moreThe exterior of the old Steak and Shake building isn't all that special, but it is a nice, cozy place to enjoy some authentic Mexican goodness. We ordered the birria tacos and they came out scalding hot, with a side of beef consumme, a slice of lime and some fresh Mexican yellow rice.
Like most Mexican restaurants, they brought out chips and salsa. Their salsa is decent and their chips are warm, thin and crispy. However, this place also brings out a side of some sort of addictively tasty bean/cheese dip.
I am 6' 5" and 300 lbs. Three birria tacos for $9.99 at lunchtime filled me up just fine.
My wife really enjoyed her horchata. Smooth and creamy with great cinnamon flavor. Not gritty like some of the other local spots.
We don't drink but they also had a bar with their margarita machines whirling away. I am sure they are tasty, as the bar seats were occupied.
They have Coke products, including Coke Zero.
As we left the chef (or owner maybe?) thanked us for visiting. I thanked him and assured him we'd be back.
We came here at the recommendation of a friend and her Mexican family, who raved about...
