Gardner Mattress — Local services in Salem

My boyfriend and i bought our house 7 years ago and thought we’d splurge on an extra expensive Jordan’s furniture mattress for our bedroom. After about 7 months, we knew something was wrong with it, there was a HUGE hump in the middle, which made the two sides we sleep on super saggy. After reporting it defective, i will give credit where credit is due, Jordan’s swapped it for us at no extra cost for the ‘more firm’ version of the same mattress, hoping the one we had received was simply defective. After another year the exact same thing was happening and we were miserable. Nothing ruins your life like bad sleep, especially with how much we work.

Anthony’s parents recommended we try Gardner Mattress in Salem- they’ve had their bed for over a decade and they’re still in love with it. We went down to the store, and worked one on one with the salesman there, he let us sit on multiple beds and while we did that, he explained the integrity of a mattress us And showed us the inner workings of the mattresses that they hand after you order the model that you prefer. Right away, we felt the difference, it wasn’t filled with foam and fluff, or pillow toppers that made it impossible to rotate and flip over often to ensure level sleeping surface is maintained.

The quality of the mattress is top-notch, and it came at about 60% of the cost of the one we purchased at Jordans Furniture. We’re still sleeping on it today, and every few months I will rotate and flip the mattress over so that it maintains its shape and form, and we are sleeping so much better now! If i could give 0 stars I would. I paid around $2300 because i wanted to invest in a mattress that would last and be good for my sleep, especially as a new mom. I picked up the mattress right before i moved over an hour away and got it set up in my new home. I tried to adjust knowing that new mattresses can hurt your body for the first few nights to weeks. But that wasn't the issue. This mattress was all sagged in, SO uncomfortable and literally had sagged indents and caved in all over the mattress that were so uncomfortable i couldn't sleep it was so painful. It still kills my body to this day and everyday. Ive had it for just under a year now because i live 1.5 hours away and couldn’t return it within the 90 day window due to giving birth to my daughter and trying to settle into our new home. But when i tell you i paid over 2k for what feels like a 30 year old mattress left on the side of the road, I am not exaggerating. I dont even care about the price. Whats seriously upsetting is that the quality of this poorly constructed and cleary broken product has literally been the main driving factor of why i cant sleep and have been so miserable for almost 12 months now. Im not sure why they sold me a used and absolutely broken mattress for full price- but i would not recommend and would stress to stay away! I cannot recommend these mattresses enough. Here’s the story. We moved from MA to TX in 2007. We had been using the Gardner mattress from my childhood room for years. So we ‘upgraded’ when we moved, and passed the old Gardner mattress to my youngest child. For years we suffered with our new mattress. Hated it. It was awful despite being expensive and a brand name. Every time we sat in our youngest child’s bed reading him stories we thought, ‘this is the oldest but BEST mattress in the house.’ Finally, I called and asked if Gardner shipped to TX. They did, and we have been happily and comfortably sleeping ever since. Now we are moving back to MA and the first thing I did was order Gardner mattresses for the entire house. We are renovating the house so we keep changing delivery times. Zach has been a huge help along the way, looked up our old invoices so we could order the same mattresses that we love. And he’s been patient as we keep changing delivery date. Anyway, these mattresses are affordable and fabulous. My son has been sleeping comfortably on a Gardner mattress that is decades old.
