PZA Pizza — Restaurant in Salem

If you’re vegan or lactose intolerant, please do yourself a favor and never order from here. I decided to try this place after a few recommendations. Me & my partner each ordered a small pizza (I’m vegan, he is not). I ordered a pizza with vegan cheese. Unfortunately, while my pizza did have vegan cheese on it, there was regular mozzarella mixed in with the vegan cheese on my pizza. It was unmistakably mozzarella.

When we called the restaurant about this the manager was very dismissive, rude, and condescending. When we told him it had regular cheese on it, he put us on hold to speak with the cook. When he came back, he told us that his cook confirmed that he did not put regular cheese on the pizza, and that he was “very experienced” so there was absolutely no way anything other than vegan cheese on the pizza. What’s funny about that statement is that the “very experienced” cook didn’t even put all of the toppings on the pizza I ordered (I ordered the vegetarian special and there was no broccoli on the pizza).

After telling the manager again that there was absolutely mozzarella on the pizza, they offered to remake it or refund. As soon as we said we preferred a refund the manager hung up on us.

All around this was a terrible experience. Mozzarella has an unmistakable texture and pull compared to vegan cheese. My partner even tried it and confirmed it was mozzarella.

Do yourself a favor and stay away from this place. There’s so many better options for pizza in a mile...

We ordered three pizzas for delivery and only two were delivered. The gluten free pizza was not delivered. PZA uses DoorDash for delivery - their choice and one pays PZA directly. Upon the driver explaining they only received two pizzas and I watched the delivery driver the whole way and they came directly to the delivery address. I also checked the drivers car. I called the restaurant and the person the answered insisted they handed the driver three pizzas and would not honor the fact that three pizzas were paid for and only two made and delivered. The restaurant insisted it was a door dash issue. Again the restaurant contracts out door dash so there is no means by which to put in a complaint with door dash. The person that answered at the restaurant hung up on me the customer and become very argumentative. It does appear from other reviews this is a trend. Please don’t order from this restaurant for delivery they do not honor their customers orders and are extremely rude.

UPDATE I have changed my review to service of 5 stars and included the fact that the pizza was very good. The owner contacted me directly and is making everything right. I would go back and recommend that with such high customer service that you should check them out if...

Have ordered from PZA a few times now. Very first pizza a week after they opened was exceptional. Was sure this would be a long and loving relationship. Yesterday decided to try something new in addition to pizza. Ordered a cheesesteak sub. Was kind of prepared for disappointment most places don't ever get them to taste right for me. My gold standard has been for many years getting a Philly Cheese Steak at Pat's King of Steaks in Philadelphia. I don't have to take two trains to get to Philadelphia anymore. My PZA Cheese Steak was tops. No Cheese Whiz right away is a big plus. SO GOOD! Inhaled the sandwich and then opened the pizza box. All the toppings & cheese were down in one corner of the box. BOO! I have to tell you that I ate it all anyways. Greasy fingers picking up blobs of cheesy meaty delight. The slices of crust (w/o topping) STILL tasted really good.
