State Street Salon — Local services in Salem

I wouldn't recommend this place to my friends at least. Long story short: I have dreadlocks and my fiance purchased a gift certificate for 225$ for my birthday. I asked the manager to provide me with examples of work (pictures of natural dreadlocks made by their hair stylist) which would help me decide if I can trust this place to maintain my locks. Not only I didn't get pictures but after a long discussion, my polite request to exchange the gift certificate back for money was declined as per "their policy". I would not go blindly to the salon and mess with the dreadlocks I cherish, therefore I am just stuck with a useless piece of paper, that I cannot exchange back. Communication was at a poor level, same as very basic human logic and understanding. The certificate has one-year expiration, which goes AGAINST law. (Ohio's gift card law: Under Ohio's Gift Card Act, most single-store gift cards must not expire or be assessed fees within two years of the date the card was issued) Such a "well respected" business as this, could have less attitude and a better...

Absolutely terrible experience. First time at this place, and just like the other review said from two weeks ago, very unwelcoming. The two nail stylists that were there kept having conversations with each other while I sat there all awkward. Not to mention, cussing up a storm no decency what so ever. Also, never asked if it was okay to be hitting their vapes the whole entire time in front of me while doing my nails. They both were gossiping with their husbands and friends that were walking in and out of the salon the entire time as well. Very unprofessional atmosphere, not a bit friendly. 70$ later, and 4 days my nails are grown out, jewels falling off and look terrible. I tried messaging the girl who did my nails to see if she would make it right, considering I paid 70$ and I usually get two weeks out of my nails. She replied that I could PAY to get them filled again, and that there is nothing she can do. My son was given a haircut by Dan. We both loved it, and he loved telling people he looked like one of his favorite characters from a show he likes.
