Went there about two years ago, I dropped my desktop off to SCC for a week because it would not start up. In that whole week of them having it, the technicians came to the conclusion that my board and possibly most of my hardware was fried. I went home and opened it up for myself. All I had to do was rewire the power switch and it turned on with no other issues. Instead of fixing the blatant wiring, they marked it off as a computer that was fried and wanted to up sale a full hardware replacement. The technicians either failed to check simple wiring or they purposely did not fix it and wrote it off as a believable ācomputer that was friedā scenario. I thought it was the latter and of course I found that out to be true. If you are looking for a place to get your computer repaired, I highly suggest you take a longer drive to a more professional and less cash hungry business that will be able to diagnose your computer properly.
A user on Yelp has also had a very similar issue, this review can be found on Salem Computer Centerās Yelp page. A quote from his one- star review: ā In my opinion, it would appear the owner is more interested in taking advantage of customers who are computer illiterate than doing honest business. I would recommend steering clear of Salem Computer Center as they do not appear to be a reputable business. ā
TLDR (Too long didnāt read): This business is looking to make as much money off of you as they can. If you know next to nothing about computers, youāll probably know just as much as the repair technicians and the Owner Frank Zamarelli. I can guarantee that a repair shop in a neighboring town would be more competent and cheaper than Salem...

They said sure and I went the next day and handed it to them and waited for about a week until they called back saying they plugged it in and nothing happened (I've already told them it doesn't work when plugged it in). Me already annoyed that a COMPUTER REPAIR STORE did nothing at all other than plug it in to tell me something that I already knew before I brought it in. Then they made me pay 53$ for the "diagnostic check" aka plugging it in and basically saying, "yep it don't work".
Anyways I took it home, checked the motherboard and saw there were screws in the grounding spot where it shouldn't and plugged it in, and it turned on (the problem was the battery was bad btw)
I'd recommend not to waste your time with them like I wasted...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreDrove all over town looking for an old DSL modem cable, but no one had it. These guys didn't have one on display, but the guy working there went in the back and was rummaging around for a few minutes. I heard a jubilant shout of "this is why we never throw anything away!" And he returned with the cable I needed. Said they sometimes take antiquated stuff when they're upgrading a home/business to better Internet. He gave me the cable for free because it was salvage and almost one uses DSL anymore (which explains why no one stocks the cables). When it is time to upgrade my home, I know who...
