In October I contacted Humanity ReStore of Rowan County to pick up a dresser and chest at my residence. The gentlemen that came for the pickup were professional and courteous. About 5 hours later, I remembered that I had left all of my jewelery in one of the top drawers. There were several pieces of heirloom jewelery with my other good jewelery. After calming down from my " meltdown" I contacted Habitat, explained what had happened and the woman that was on duty ( I am sorry I did not write down her name) informed me they had discovered the jewelry and I could come down and pick it up. My husband went down brought the jewelery home and most of it was there but I was missing several pieces. This dresser was forty+ years old and solid wood. Because of that fact there were solid wood partitions between each set of the drawers. I suspected after I remembered that fact, that some of the jewelery had spilled out and was between the drawer and this partition. Long story short, I went down spoke with the woman whose name I did not write down and we went back to where the dresser was located. I took out the top drawers and sure enough all of the missing pieces were lodged in the corner of the dresser!!! I was very happy with this discovery but I was even happier to know that there are still a few honest people left in the world. It would have been so easy to tell me none of the jewelery was there. I give 5 stars to all of the people involved in this event. Thank you Habitat of Restore for finding my jewelery but more importantly thank each of you involved for being honest and restoring ( no pun intended) my faith in the honesty of...
Read moreWas told when I turned in my application that they would have a team look into my application in a couple weeks so I called like every week to make sure if they looked into it. Having bad anxiety because my friend was Hispanic and legal and put in an application but they never reviewed it and even said they haven’t found his application in the system after 6 months with no answer. We think they threw it away because they thought he was illegal but that’s why I have bad anxiety and the supervisor told me to stop calling them which was very unprofessional because this is one of my biggest decisions in my life and they don’t know anything about the decision making process. It’s very frustrating that they don’t know anything or can’t answer half the questions I have about the program. I’ve been waiting for over a month and was told that their team looks over the application frequently but was told they never looked at my application after the two weeks I put in my application. Now I’m being told they’ll look at it again in a week or two. The supervisor thought I was being pushy and that because I call in every week that I was trying to force them to look at the application quicker but I literally just want to know when they are looking over it since they couldn’t give me an better estimate and I don’t want them to throw away my application like they did my friend. Very rude and...
Read moreThe workers are nice people! But the prices are outrageous. The prices on these USED and DONATED stuff is way too much. I saw a brokgen glass table labeled as chipped and priced for $200??? $150 for a used door yet Facebook marketplace had new ones for $100 which is the route I went. I saw a set of tower speakers but for $250?! No receivers or anything. At Nazareth I bought an rca receiver, with 5 surround sound speakers and a 10’ subwoofer for $20. Goodwill also had a pair of Sony tower speakers with a 12’ woofer, 8’ mid, and tweeter per each tower speaker that I paired with the rca surround sound. For $40 bucks I have a system that literally can shake a roof. I do not recommend buying anything here just for how over...
