The gymnastics program is excellent here. The coaches are amazing and care about their athletes. They teach them about life skills, discipline and how to motivate themselves and each other as teammates. My daughter has the honor of being coached by the best coaches here (my daughters words) the dynamic duo Coach Mandy and Coach Caleb. My daughter originally started with Coach Caleb at a different gym but once he left it wasn’t the same and we found him coincidentally when we’re looking for another gym here at AHGA. Coach Mandy and him are a great coaching combination. Coach Mandy is excellent at teaching her athletes hardwork and dedication pays off, she teaches them life skills and wants them to succeed to the best of their abilities. My daughter was apprehensive about the beam but throughout the season she was able to overcome the challenges and accomplished her goal during competition season. Coach Mandy and Caleb had a lot to do with her success, they help your athlete to overcome fears and challenges in a positive way, this is what makes these gymnasts at AHGA stronger because they have a stronger mindset to overcome these type of challenges and have an “I can do it attitude”.
When it comes to teams, I was a little scared of what to expect because I have heard it could be a lot. In comparison to the last gym we were at when we originally thinking of joining teams it seemed that all the competitions were out of state and consisted of long travel. I liked that AHGA kept it economically friendly for parents. The farthest we traveled was to Corpus and Houston, which is not very far at all. They also let you know of the competition schedule in advance before you sign the contract. At the other gym we were told they weren’t sure where all the competitions would be but we would have to sign the contract to commit to teams even though we weren’t aware of the locations. I prefer knowing what I am signing up for especially if there is a contract involved.
Communication was great with our team and coaches. The only thing is that you have make sure to read the communications notifications in the team app. Yes it can be a lot but at least it’s all communicated in one place if you should ever need to go back. The coaches were friendly and approachable and were also very responsive in the app if you needed to message them.
I have to add that the wonderful lady at the front desk “front desk “Jess”” is amazing, she’s so helpful and so knowledgeable about AHGA and if she doesn’t know the answer she can tell you who to ask. She is super friendly and just amazing!
Coach Jenny the owner is amazing, she cares about her staff/coaches and recognizes all their hardwork in building the program. She talks to the athletes when she walks around during practice and she engages with them.
All in all, if you’re looking to join a gymnastics team, I would recommend AHGA. They have the best gymnastics coaches and they are...
Read moreWe originally started our daughter at another gym, but she began progressing faster than we anticipated. That led us to search for a program that could challenge her and support her growth — and that’s when we found Alamo.
Right away, we could tell this place was different. The coaches have high expectations, but they also care deeply about the girls. They're tough when they need to be, but always encouraging. It feels like they really want the best for every gymnast.
Practices are tough and demanding, but the results speak for themselves. The girls consistently perform at the top of the leaderboard, and the dedication from both the athletes and coaches is evident.
We've just completed our first year at Alamo, and I’m ecstatic about the progress our daughter has made — not just in skill, but in confidence and love for the sport. She’s formed amazing friendships and looks forward to every practice.
As a parent, you honestly couldn’t ask for more. Five HUGE stars.

Read moreSo to be clear, the gymnastics program is great. Compared to other gyms, your child will learn a great deal there.
I would not recommend the cheer program. The program is unorganized, communication is poor, and the owner and coach are unprofessional.
I was told that most gyms will give you a week’s notice for extra practices before competition. Our current gym announced all extra practices in advance first the season.
This program is also not NCA if that’s what you’re looking for.
There are other cheer programs out there that are better organized, professional, and have better communication. Our child did develop some foundational skills, but some movements did not align with NCA.
If you can get past the cons, it may be a good fit if you’re...
