Poor location with terrible management. I was shopping for vitamins & cosmetics for an upcoming trip while my husband was paying bills at the service counter, which took quite a while. In the meantime I was wandering around the store, trying to decide what to get for our dinner. When he finally found me, we discussed what to eat & made a few more selections. We were at the self checkout when some guy in a wannabe cowboy getup & his little sidekick, (both HEB employees) were just standing there holding open boxes of hot pink Splat hair dye & muttering âthatâs not all you haveâ or something to the effect, accusing us of stealing the hair dye. By the time I realized what they were accusing us of, I was so taken aback I felt like I was in the Twilight Zone. I said âare you accusing us of stealing?â I opened my purse to show him I didnât have anything in it, & he still said âyou know you have it.â My husband & I kept repeating âare you seriously accusing us of stealing?â He then put his hand to his back pocket as if he was reaching for a weapon to scare us. Mind you, this was in front of everyone. Iâm a 57 year old professional woman with college degree who has traveled the world & never been accused of stealing in my life. Then I guess they must have realized their error & they just walked away leaving, us humiliated & in shock. I paid for our purchases, shaking & knowing my face was flushed, still in shock. I was so upset that my husband went back after dropping me at home to get an explanation or an apology. The manager didnât want to give him his last name & offered a $10 gift card as compensation for this nightmare. These employees fancying themselves as investigators are obviously not trained properly, & (in this case) donât have the brain power to solve the most basic of shoplifting situations. I was a loyal customer at this location on Grissom, shopping almost daily, but I will never set foot in this location again. The managerâs name is Will & the other employee is Angel. They are a pathetic representation of HEB & retraining is desperately needed for these clowns. It was a horrible experience that I wouldnât wish on my worst enemy.
This occurred in December, 2023. It is now April 2024. I have contacted corporate headquarters twice, filed two complaints on the phone number provided, and still havenât received any response, explanation, apology or any acknowledgment of wrongdoing. Meanwhile, Will is still working at this location. I am traumatized and have not been back in this HEB since the incident. HEB needs to correct this horrible occurrence.    Read moreYesterday i witnessed a man attempting to grab a basket with a rotisserie chicken in his hand , before he could even do so , one of your employees racially profiled him and embarrassed him in front of the whole store accusing him of stealing . When he asked her for her name she refused to provide , and purposely flipped her name tag around . Being nosy not going to lie i purposely stayed in the store to see how it would play out . Your fellow employees KEVIN , DJ , and a woman who i could not see her name tag but are all pictured below immediately became hostile with him trying to remove him from the store and it took another employee to even allow them the decency to take his side of the story . What really bothered me was the fact that DANIELLE (the employee in the RED HEB SHIRT who accused this young man of stealing ( i overheard the other employees inform this young man of her name ) laughed in this manâs face and said it happens all the time , while aggressively putting her hands in his face. While others (the unnamed woman but pictured ) immediately tried to call the police on this man as well as KEVIN who made a smart remark that he would be removed from the premises , wouldnât be shopping there any more, as well as tried to move him when he honestly just needed a basket . They also accused him of trying to go up the steps and as a witness he did not, he stayed at the bottom of the stairwell recording . Based on the reviews this is not the first time your store has done this shake my head . I spoke to this man to apologize for the incident as this was unfair and asked for the images and videos he took as i noticed he was recording all those involved .    Read morePaige to the rescue! On the outside of the store I ran into Paige (female,blonde), and she was amazing. She should be the official ambassador. I have never felt more invited into an HEB as I was when I met her. I changed my star rating because of PAIGE; and even the cashiers and baggers are much more helpful and amenable, as of late.
They have become a monopoly, and the employees have prejudicial attitudes toward non-Hispanic customers. The customer has to be the one to offer a "smile "đand a "thank you" and a "please." The ones that bag groceries are always a pleasure. But the people in the restaurant are horrible. The people in the fish area are horrible. The people in the office are đokay. The boy in the bakery on Wednesday night kept trying to service the Hispanic and not my African American self. I kept offering a smile while getting this bread đ.He never even met my eye.
