I have been going there since 2003. Great shop with the potential of being better if they would employ workers with a like-minded business vision. I am a native of Louisiana so I have been born and raised with Hoodoo, Voodoo, Santeria, Palo, etc. Grandparents are healers. Staff needs to be cognitive that some African American people are capable and able to speak Spanish and can hear when you are talking about your customers in a Spanish conversation and the audacity and rudeness of it all. Nita needs to work on her mood swings and I can see why many workers will vent to customers about who will listen and then later terminate their employment with the company. Why is there no African Americans or Whites employed at this Company???? Two African American Women visited the place as I was on the same day and bee-lined for me because they were not greeted properly by staff and decided to ask me about products. Later, I was asked upon leaving the store by Ms. Yoli, Papa Jim's daughter, to please not give my number to any of their customers because that is what their staff is there for which is answering questions and basically I was taking food out of their workers mouths that were trying to earn a living while employed at Papa Jim. I was shocked but it was then I realized they were scared that I would take their customers because I revealed I knew the arts and is a practitioner when I am not going to school. Also, the same thing has happened to me at the Botanica named La Fe Hierberia with the owner Mrs. Eva. She sent her son after me. I swear folks need to recognize that God has given all of us spiritual gifts to help others and there is no need to be jealous or malicious when customers gravitate to another's light. We are not like this in New Orleans, Louisiana. I have witnessed some owners here with some very greedy souls and are willing to misuse there gifts by throwing evil anybody's way. Hands are for helping and healing. Amen. Papa Jim can be great if reorganizing and restructuring happens. Getting rid of the old and bringing in new workers. Just because a person has been there forever does not mean they are good for your company as I informed Yoli. Yoli is very nice and knowledgeable but she should follow her own beat and not Nita's drama with putting down some of the new employees. Blessings always. U can feel the evilness and the tightness of the atmosphere when you enter Papa Jim and it is not like when the man...

One day I was glancing at the books and a rude younger man approached me and said ā you canāt be standing here looking at the books, your blocking the lane and you always come here and read the books and never buy anyā it was belittling because nobody was there and I was squatting against the wall clearly not in the walkway. And I bought every book I ever picked up on top of that, HOW ARE YOU SUPPOSE TO KNOW WHAT BOOK YOU WANT IF YOU CANT LOOK AT THEM. Of course as soon as he left I picked the book back up. I left a complaint with the manager and she could care less which leads me to my next negative experience. All of the staff and employees are either very inconsiderate not very motivated to be there. Or they donāt know anything I ask for. I asked a young lady for Witch Hazel she had to go ask the manager, I asked her for a certain oil she had to go ask the manager. This repeated for a while until I felt like a burden to the manager. Customer service is poor and employees donāt know what they are selling very well. I would give 5 stars because the place has everything you could need but donāt expect very friendly staff or customer service. Papa Jim would be disappointed with...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI bought some candles from them and paid almost 40 dollars total and then come to find out they weren't the right kind of candles and i couldn't return them, they made it sound like it's my fault that i bought these candles. they were not even made the correct way after i was told and i told them that and they still wouldn't take them back . i even had my receipt and they were never used. they proceeded to continue to argue with me and even had the gull to tell me to get the money back from the person who told me to buy these candles since they didn't inform me the correct ones to purchase, they are sooo ghetto in their mannerism there. i would highly recommend not to buy from them. they have no sense in customer service, and don't care about people either. they also are misleading people with their candles, they are bought from a factory, so they are not made for the reasons and intentions that people go there for to buy these types of candles in the first place. Stay far away from them everybody. if you ever see a sign that says NO refunds or NO exchanges, watch out. there is a reason why they do that. never buy from a place that won't offer any of these to...
