SB Raceway — Local services in San Bernardino

I would NOT recommend going here. I love go karting and go frequently but this experience was by far the worst. My friend and I had purchased 3 races via Groupon and were very excited to drive the gas powered carts. After we created our licensees we waited 5 minutes before being shown the safety and flag video then frantically put in a race with children; despite being 18. Along with the fact that they did not know how to drive ( stopping and inappropriate times and blocking other drivers) it was frustrating that the staff (including the manager) NEVER used their flags; like when the kids wouldn't let us pass or would run into walls. And while advertising that their karts go "an excess of 40 mph!" they would constantly slow us down! As a passionate driver time is important ( not "beating" others). Being forced to race with children although we are 18, constantly being slowed down and blocked by kids who couldn't drive, and went out of their way to try to make you crash made the experience terrible given that fact that it was completely avoidable. We then waited for a little over an hour for our second race and had the same issue, there was a severe lack of flag use and an abundance of dangerous sudden stops and slow downs. We were not able to finish our third race because the wait was an hour and a half and we had an event to get to. We were given a coupon for a free race each for the inconvenience. I gave my 16-year-old brother the coupons for Christmas and when we took him and a friend to use them we were rudely told by Jani that because she had given us the coupons that my brother could not use them. This was completely outrageous because she did not state any "fine print" of this nature and there was not mention of this on the coupon. She crudely stated that because she handed them to us they could not use them and when we asked to speak to the manager she said that he was not available and would simply tell us the same thing. She also stated we could not use them and that "when someone gives you something you don't give it to someone else", told my brother to pay for his license or throw it away, and walked away while we were talking. She was very rude, out of line, and completely unprofessional (not only to us and she often ignored her post to talk). On top of her harsh rant we contacted the manager the next day and were told she should have let them use the coupons, but he refused to extend the expiration date which he claimed to be January 28th (the day we went) although the actual date was January 29th. Overall a terrible experience worsened by a rude and incompetent staff. DO NOT GO HERE. Go to Pole Position in Corona (or any of them), even if it is a ways away it is...

Be forewarned, this establishment does not offer any refunds on unused races or for any of the games, vending machines inside their arcade.

I had heard from a friend about this place so I decided to take my 12 and 16 year olds to get out of the house and have some fun. We arrived around 2pm in the afternoon today (Saturday) and were told by the young lady at the front counter that it was about an hour wait. I purchased 2 races for each of us and we proceeded to spend the estimated wait time in the small arcade they have. When it was our turn to race, about two hours had passed and it was around 415pm. The races last approximately 10 minutes (17 to 20 laps).

After our first race was complete, I figured since we purchased two races, we would be in the next group but that is not how their system works. Apparently, when you pay for the races, you are placed in a que for the first race but not the 2nd race. So every other customer who checked in after us and prior to our 2nd race would be in front of us. I went to the counter and inquired when our 2nd race would be and was told approximately 30 more minutes. Since we had a prior engagement to be at 5pm, I asked if I could have a voucher for our 2nd race since I had seen several hand written signs throughout the business that they did not offer refunds but was denied a voucher. I understand a business not offering refunds but why not a voucher for a future time?

I spent approximately $140 for two races for each of us (three people total). I also spent another $10 in the arcade but $2 of that was lost in machines that were not working right.

I want to make clear that this is just my review and opinion. I want to believe I just went on an "off" day for this business and I hope others have a better experience. If you do go there, I would suggest only paying for one race as their system needs to be corrected on the que issue, unless it is not busy.

To the business owner and/or management: If no refund is offered, at least offer a voucher for a future race, maybe which is only valid for 30 days. Even though you may not own the vending/gaming machines, accept responsibility for them if they are not functioning properly. The machines may be owned by another business but the customer is there to do business with SB Raceway and a negative experience will be towards SB Raceway, not the vending machine company.

In the end, what matters most is did my kids have fun? To summarize their response, they have no desire to...

Edit* So I made the mistake of returning and was kicked out with absolutely no explanation as to why. the security guard was called in on his day off just to come throw my son and I out. Owner, I'm still waiting for your phone call. I left my info with your security guard and was told I would be contacted. This is absurd. There's still 8 races between my son and my account. If I'm being banned forever at least have the decency to tell me why and refund my money.

I really like going here. Unfortunately I won’t be coming back again. My son and I both race here not consistently but we’ve came enough that we are both driving the vip carts and have fun doin it. Now the problem is the last 3 time we went I had to purchase more race credits even though I was 95% sure I still had credits left from the previous trip. I buy the 5 pack of races and we generally only use 2. Sometimes three. However when I come the next time I’m told we either don’t have any or only have 1. I just left there right now. We were told we only had 1 race on our account even though I’m positive last time I again bought us both 5 races and we used 2 of them. I was told that 10/17 which is a Monday we used 2 races and that I didn’t buy any races that day. Last time we went was on Sunday 10/02 I know this because I made reservations that day to go skydiving while at Sunday brunch. I payed cash that day for our races. So that tells me the person working the register pocketed my money for the 2 vip 5 race packs I bought and then 2 of our races were given away to one of these employees friends on 10/17. We have been ripped off for at least 7 races each. Possibly 9. If you come often pay with a card and keep track of any unused races. These kids working there are scamming unused races off of peoples accounts and...
