I have been a student at SOR FM for over five years. Devin has been my teacher for almost that entire time. I am 71 years young and, for obvious reasons, play with the adult band, of which Devin is also an instructor. Devin’s method of teaching is smooth as silk. He has an intuitive way of knowing what i need and how to bring it out in me. For instance, after being a keyboard player for many years, i am in my second year of bass lessons with Devin (in addition to keyboard) and that would not have happened if Devin had not honed in on my potential for growing with music and reaching full potential. Sheila Reyes is an amazing coach, not only for vocals, but for confidence. Going in to School of Rock, I had zero confidence in myself, and I wouldn’t dare sing in front of a crowd, barely even in front of my family. Sheila changed that and taught me how to improve my voice through being who she is. Using her techniques, she really connects with her students on a personal level and gets to know them. Her doing this has changed my perspective on performing and reignited the flame within in me for persuing this idea of becoming something, and she continues to keep it lit every time I’m in her room.
