Mellow Mushroom Fort Myers — Restaurant in Florida

Been going to mellow mushroom for the last 5 years! This location was always my favorite throughout all of my experiences. However i hadn’t been here in a while (not for any reason) we just had been going to the cape coral one since it opened up this year and it is a lot closer to our home. But tonight me and my partner decided we would like to come back to the daniels park way location since it has been so long, and we also had visitors here. One of our traditions as a group is to go to Mellow Mushroom! We have been to a total of 9 across the country. So I will be transparent and say that my standards are pretty high after being to many locations, and also always having good experiences at them. Which is why i always return! However tonight was truly very disappointing. I am truly upset by the service we had while our friends were in town. I hyped this location up so much and said it was better than the location where they are from and it was honestly embarrassing. To start, the hostess asked us where we would like to sit and we told her we would like a booth and at 8:47pm she said we could not have a booth because they do not have any servers for that section for the rest of the night. so we only were left with a high top, yet she asked LOL. Which i will say is lowkey funny that she asked that and then didn’t give us the preference. But then our server Brooke is where things got interesting. I personally work in customer seevice, so it always stands out to me when someone doesn’t greet you. When they don’t smile, get annoyed at your questions. and just flat out make you feel bad for being there. Then she spent the entirety of our time being there, in the back and doing closing duties early so they could get out asap. The TV was turned off while we were eating tv and actively watching. The music was cut off before we were finished. we waited for the check and a box for about 15 minutes after we were done which was funny since it was getting to be closing time and they clearly wanted to leave. We also had dirty cups and appetizer plates that sat at our table for the majority of our time. Normally service is quick and efficient in the food service industry so it definitely was a shock. My 2nd drink also was given to me with no Lime. Our pizza had burnt crust and we actively watched the pizza sit on the counter while we waited for Brooke to deliver it to us. I contemplated making this review, because in the past we have had great service! but it has been over a year since we were last at this location and if this is the type of servers and service they are offering at this location We certainly won’t be back.

On Monday, June 30, my friend and I went to Mellow Mushroom on Daniels Parkway in Fort Myers for lunch. When we walked into the restaurant our greeting was, “you can’t bring that in here” as she pointed to a small bottle of water that my friend carried. Here’s the ironic thing; she was given that water bottle by a staff member of Chico’s (a store nearby). Our visit continued to worsen. She brought us to a booth and we sat down. We immediately realized that the table and seat were very wet. We both immediately stood back up and brought that to her attention. She became very annoyed and stomped off and brought a dry towel back to wipe table and seats down.

We placed our order. My friend ordered the vegetarian pizza because she does not eat meat and has dietary needs; she always orders the same thing at Mellow Mushroom. When our meals came it was obvious that the pizza was very undercooked. The green peppers were still cold and hard as well as the other vegetables. My friend complained that the food was undercooked and there was very little cheese. The waitress tartly replied that the cheese was “measured.”

When we looked around and noticed how few people were in the restaurant. Now I can understand why; neither one of us will ever go back! Here is my answer to the reply sent to me via email. Have you TRIED the water you serve at your restaurant? I do not drink caffeine so I requested water. It was undrinkable so I ate my sandwich quickly, did not eat the chips and quickly got out! Very POOR customer service. I write quite a few Google reviews and the majority are good. This review is not going to change. I don't blame my friend for bringing in her bottle of water rather than drinking the water at this restaurant. Additionally, who would want to leave their water in their car when the temperature is over 90 degrees? Seriously? MY...

Seating: Very quick. Staff very polite.

Waiter: Very polite and quick to bring us whatever we ordered. Excellent service.

Appetizer: We got the pretzel bites with beer cheese. When they arrived they were very clearly garlic knots with a pretzel like exterior. That aside they were amazing along with the cheese. We asked for some red sauce to go with them and that made them even better

Pizza: The pizza arrived and we were very impressed. The large was very large and the cheese seemed to stretch infinitely when we took a slice out of the pie. The first bite however was a different story. The cheese was wonderful and you could taste how fresh it was. The sauce was good, but there was no flavor to it besides it being tomato sauce. The crust... probably the most important part of the pizza was comparable to the crust of little ceasars pizza. It was bland and hard to get down, had the sauce been seasoned a bit more it might have been more tolerable. I could only get through half of my slice before I had to stop and resign to eating only the garlic pretzel bites.

Price: Comparable to other local pizza places. No complaint.

Overall: I will be going back, but not for the pizza. They have additional items on the menu that seem like they will be good. But I will have to...
