Although my pool guy does a great job for us the company has terrible communication in regards to billing and rate changes. The worst situation was my monthly bill came to my house every month for payment but when I needed assistance with trouble shooting and replacement of parts they sent the bill to my wife's old work email (she retired 2 years prior) and sent me to collections because the bill wasn't paid. They had our phone numbers and my email address but never contacted me. They said it was my fault even though we never received a bill. I also received bills for 4 months that showed I had a zero balance so I waited for them to contact me about the bill prior to paying the bill. They said we don't show on our records that it is zero balance. I wanted to show them my hard copies but the idiot manager said she didn't need them. I told her to correct their system. I have been a customer for over 20 years and since the company was bought out two years ago it has been a constant issue with their billing. They sent their latest increase statement from a company called Pentair Support (not Discount Pools) which I didn't look at because it's a company I don't do business with. Their repair parts are way overpriced compared with identical parts online. DPS did a repair job on my pool heater that needed a new master control circuit board. They had a used board handy ie one that had been recovered from another pool heater which they said would save me money. They subsequently charged me several hundred dollars more than what I should have paid for a new board. When I complained, they gave me a “discount” which resulted in me paying the full retail price of a new Pentair board I could buy online stating that a new board would have me cost several hundred dollars more. After completing an inquiry on their web site, DPS quickly got back to me to schedule an appointment to check what was wrong with my pump and provide suggestions. Chris, the technician, was on time, super friendly and explained that I needed a new pump. Four days later I received a quote for the pump replacement and replumbing which was fairly priced. After accepting the quote, I made an appointment for the following week for the installation. Chris came back, was on time and did the installation which took only 90 min. I really liked dealing with DPS has they were very responsive, had excellent communication, were available without much delays, were on time, did a quality job and their prices were reasonable.
