Even if you donât read this whole review, trust, if you are looking for the BEST vet for your pet where they will be treated like a VIP (very important pet), receive the most comprehensive, compassionate care, & exceptional service (which of course all animals deserve only the very best), I HIGHLY recommend CoastView. My 14-year-old Chihuahua Miniature Pinscher, Pawparazzi, has struggled with severe skin issues since June (hair loss, flaky skin, bacterial infection). Our previous vet was fine for routine care, but we saw no progress with these more complex issues. I found CoastView through a Facebook group, & the experience has been amazing. Being a senior dog with health concerns, the idea of a âfear-freeâ clinic was appealing. My husband was initially skeptical, but even heâs been impressed. We've had two visits so far, both have been fantastic. Our vet tech, Star, is INCREDIBLE! Dr. Caitie is also AMAZING! They handle Paw with immense compassion, making sure heâs comfortable every step of the way. Star is not only kind to us but to Paw, thoroughly preparing us for Dr. Caitie, helping us communicate our concerns, & clearly explaining Pawâs meds & care tips. Sheâs friendly, warm, & a pleasure to work with, putting both Paw & us at ease. Dr. Caitie is so intelligent, kind, & patient, answering every question we have. Her exams are thoroughâshe checks every detail, takes photos to track progress, & offers a range of treatment options that fit our budget. We always leave with a clear understanding of costs & treatment plansâno surprises. Dr. Caitie has provided symptom relief & preventive measures while we search for the root of Paw's issues. Both Star & Dr. Caitie make us feel valued, never rushed, & we never feel like unnecessary treatments are pushed. They are knowledgeable, competent, & ethicalâqualities that are reassuring when dealing with complex issues. Prices are also reasonable; it doesnât cost much more than our previous vet, Dr. Caitie & Star also provided resources for financial support. With our previous vet, we often left feeling uncertain. At CoastView, we leave confident that Paw is on the road to recovery & that thereâs a solid plan moving forward.
For anyone curious about a âfear-freeâ clinic, CoastViewâs approach makes a difference: Separate entrances/waiting rooms for cats & dogs Free bandanas with calming pheromone spray Scales on the floor with towels for comfort Scent diffusers in exam rooms Towel-covered exam tables for warmth & comfort Every treatment is done with us in the exam room, easing Paw's anxiety Small breaks between procedures to avoid overwhelming him An extra level of care, warmth, & kindness in all interactions with Paw during exams, testing, & treatments Patience in explaining everything thoroughly & answering all questions to the fullest, so we never feel confused or concerned about his care Prioritization of treatments & procedures to reduce stress & include preventive measures to avoid further complications Peanut butter rewards after uncomfortable treatmentsâsimple but helpful!
Communication outside of visits is excellent. We receive appointment reminders, & Dr. Caitie follows up with detailed care plans & cost estimates. After our first visit, I even received a check-in email about Pawâs progress, with encouragement to reach out anytime before his next appointment. As someone whoâs been worried about their pet for months, the relief weâve felt since switching to CoastView is immense. Weâre thankful to have found a place where Paw is truly in good hands & on a hopeful path toward recovery. When your pet faces complex issues, itâs frustrating & heartbreaking to feel helpless. Now, we finally have hope that Paw will regain quality of life, & weâre grateful to the CoastView team for that. I recommend CoastView wholeheartedly. Iâve read countless reviews & spent time researching to find the best care for Paw. Our pets are family, so if youâre searching for the right vet, I hope this helps guide you to the quality care CoastView provides. Thank you, CoastView! We...

Brought Dog in for an ear exam, was told repeated the cause was a "Foxtail" (incorrectly). Anesthetized for an ear exam. Which revealed no foreign body, only "Bites", Vet Nova recommended Prednisone, I was against, but she talked me into it. My fault. we took him off prednisone, within 36 hrs. He spiraled into what is called an addisonian crisis. An entirely unmentioned side effect of the drug. The Vet who very patiently informed me he had a child to get home to, said "It cant be prednisone withdrawal because there are missing symptoms," the symptoms he listed were incorrect symptoms. He informed me that
I could not prove that Vet Novas prescription could be the cause and vet Nova was nowhere to be found and unavailable for contact.
then informed me that they were about to close and even though my dog was obviously medically distressed, they were unable to offer any services aside from a full diagnostic panel to establish a new cause of malady. Which they were unavailable to perform until monday. HE RE-SCOPED THE DOGS EAR LOOKING FOR SOMETHING WHICH MIGHT HAVE MIGRATED INTO THE EAR CANAL. (The original ear exam found nothing...) WHEN HE CHECKED CHECKED DOGS PULSE, AND "DISCOVERED" A 103 FEVER SAID THEY COULD NOT POSSIBLY HAVE MADE A MISTAKE. (I could feel the fever through his forehead.)
Essentially, Misdiagnosed my dog from the first phonecall. Misprescribed an incorrect medication at a dosage almost double the standard by body weight. And when the dog was obviously suffering from Prednisone withdrawal, I was told that I could not prove they were at fault. they were in no way liable, it was my fault for giving the dog the medication. and the only vet on staff before closing had a busy weekend and none of the appropriate tools to rectify their mistakes or errors throught the entirety of the process.
Saying "Its your fault for leaving your dog in the heat all day and dragging him across the parking lot five minutes before close". After I waited until he vomited a fourth and fifth time. He started vomiting at 7 am. I brought him in at 4:55-ish after an attempt to drink water resulted in recleaning the car we live in.
Same vet denying the blatantly obvious symptoms of an addisonian crisis. As medically described by the federal veterinary board.
Do not trust. They make mistakes. And wont admit fault under any circumstances including malpractice. Found one vet no longer works there and a dog came in deceased while I was there. They didn't know who the women...

I am very disappointed with my last visit to CoastView Veterinary Hospital. After what seemed like a routine annual exam and vaccinations on March 13, my cat ended up in a constant state of twitching and was later diagnosed with a torn cranial cruciate ligament (the cat version of an ACL tear).
Hereâs what happened: when we got home, I noticed my cat twitching â his back legs were contracting involuntarily, and it would ripple through his whole body. Five days later, he started limping on the same leg where the vaccine was administered. While the injury wasnât a direct result of the vaccine itself, something was clearly done incorrectly during the procedure â likely affecting a nerve or muscle â leading to twitching, discomfort, and ultimately, injury when he tried to jump or run.
When we went back to CoastView for a recheck, they said the twitching could be a vaccine reaction that might last for months. I have not found any credible information to support that â everything Iâve read says vaccine reactions should resolve within days. As for the limping, they didnât find anything wrong with the leg and offered an X-ray, but refused to perform it without anesthesia!!
We ended up going to a different vet, who took X-rays without anesthesia and confirmed that my cat had torn his cranial cruciate ligament and referred us to surgeon. Now he is stuck in a small enclosure for months trying to stabilize his knee without surgery â and if that fails, he will need surgery and even more months of recovery. His legs are still twitching. And he will never be the same again! đż
Iâm not even going to get too deep into the other things that felt âoffâ during that annual examâŚlike poking my catâs bladder with a needle multiple times because they couldnât find it and something that they never warned me about and I actually read it in one other review recently!!!
All I can say is that going to CoastView Veterinary Hospital on March 13 is the biggest regret of my life!!!!!
We have been going to CoastView for the last two years without issues â but this last visit went horribly wrong, and we are now left dealing with a heartbreaking, stressful, and...
