Music Studio Jin — Local services in San Diego

Recently went here for a birthday celebration which ended up being a blast! Sadly I had to rate low though due to the miscommunication from the beginning. We called a week in advance! Mind you the person who picked up on the phone stated that they had us book 7pm from when they open till 10pm we asked several times if it was confirmed and booked till that time. The person said they booked us down and that when we arrived there would be no confusion nor any problems. Day of when we arrived it was busy but person at the front desk greeted us and went over the room we'd be place but the time was incorrect! They stated we're 7pm-9pm that another party had booked it after us. What I don't understand is instead of calling us back for an update on the change that occured you waited for the party of 25plus to come in and just say"Oh sorry we don't have you till 10pm but for two hours." I work customer service and I decided on this place because of recommendation but it's upsetting that the staff couldn't even accommodate! For the mistake in which they caused, for what more money??? In which we would have given if the agreement of the time frame stayed the same. Though typical you plan to book for about group when we called first in advance, that's unacceptable and bad call on business. On top of that we were told we be charged $190.00 for the two hours since we lost an hour and $30 which was max for bringing our own food. They stated if we clean up they may even discount the fee, person at the front said all this yet none of it remained true. Tell me why we paid extra $30 that came up to $220? No one explained why the extra fee was charged but I'm assuming it was because the other party was waiting but if we cleaned up left no mess and we're rushed to leave because you as a company decided to double book! Whose fault is it truly?! Not to mention everyone is aware how terrible the parking is at this location. Would I recommend this place to friends probably not. I've been to other karaoke places that are well kept more so than this establishment. So be mindful of what you're being charged and make sure it's written on paper all details. Usually the woman that is here is very kind but the young man that was here today had a really bad attitude. Mics didn't work initially and so we couldn't start singing until 8:51pm, a few minutes after we had initially walked in. We finished up exactly at 9:51pm and walked to the front where the man that works there was nowhere to be found. We had such a good time though, that we told the group that had just walked in that was hesitant about trying it out, how fun it is. I've been here 6+ times. When the worker came back it was 8:55pm and tried to charge us an extra $10 (so $30 now $40) because it was 9:55pm. I told him we had been waiting for him to come back for 4+min and that there was a delay because of the mics in the beginning (which he was fully aware of since he was the one who had fixed the issue) and he veryyyy rudely insisted that we still get a $5 penalty. For what reason? I have no idea. Trying to literally scam and haggle me out of money is not going to make me want to come back. I don't think I'll be back here which is a shame because it was my favorite karaoke...

As of now, after shut down of Chorus Karaoke and Muzen Karaoke, Jin Karaoke has monopoly on convoy area with its business (music studios with Korean, Japanese, Chinese, English, etc. songs), so there will always be a waiting line on weekends. People at the counter are really nice people, but they bumped up the price when Muzen and Chorus shutdown. Also, their price/hr is calculated by 15 min, 30 min, and 1 hr. As in, if you sing for 1 hr and 40 minutes, they will charge you for 2 hrs instead of 1 hr 45 min. So I recommend that if you're at 40 min or 1 hr 40 min mark, just sing couple more songs and fill up the hour (depending on who the person at the counter is, he or she may or may not tell you this because it's posted as piece of paper on the side of the counter. If you do ask, they'll tell you).
