Tasty Pot is a perfect name for this restaurant. I had never been to a hot pot restaurant before but a co-worker brought myself and another co-worker as it is her favorite hot pot spot. We came early to make sure we got a parking spot since the lot is failry small considering how many businesses share the lot.
When we were arrived we were greeted and seated. We were offered tea either green or black and it came with the mail for free. I opted for black tea and I appreciated that it was iced tea instead of hot tea. The only downfall is it was slightly sweetened and I am not a big fan of sweetened tea.
When it came time to order I wasn't quite sure what to get. It seems almost all of the hot pot soups come with seafood and I am not a seafood eater. I ended up opting for the beef hot pot and ask for no seafood to be added. They happily obliged. Are meal arrived within about 10 minutes and the soup was basically boiling I wasn't quite sure how to eat it. Luckily my co-worker showed us how to eat hot pot. The soup was full of flavor and had a huge amount of veggies and meat. The only issue I had was that my soup had clams in it which kind of bummed me out since I don't like seafood. My co-worker however loved it since he got extra clams. The coworker who brought us in ordered the cheesy milk soup and let me try some of her broth. It was absolutely amazing and the broth kind of reminded me of a Tom kha. It was extremely creamy and flavorful and I instantly wished I had ordered it because it was amazing. The other very interesting thing was when my co-workers had gotten to the end of their soup and they still had vegetables and meat left the server asked if they wanted more broth in their hot pot. I have never heard of anything like that and thought that was very considerate.
Considering the great food and the wonderful service I will definitely be coming...
Read moreA great place to go for your personal hot pot! Also perfect for warming up on cold days. There's a nice selection of different hot pots you can order and we have tried the beef, lamb, curry flavor, stinky tofu, and the kimchi dumplings. A lot of the same vegetables and fish balls can be found in each of these pots so the main difference between the pots is the meat and broth. Out of all the ones I have tried, I still enjoy the classic beef hot pot the best. There's a generous amount of meat. The dumplings in the kimchi pot were also pretty tasty. For each pot, you also get the option for rice or vermicelli. Since many of the pots already come with some vermicelli, I usually go with rice. Also, the food is pretty hot so I like to cool a lot of it in a separate bowl before eating. You can also turn off the fire in the pot so it stops boiling. If you run out of broth, you can get...
Read moreI am giving Tasty Pot a one-star review, because the quality and portion of food they serve here definitely do not deserve $14.99 a pot (for both lunch and dinner). Note that this is a price higher than any of their other locations, including the San Francisco one!
The price for the food has increased too drastically over the past couple of years. I understand that Tasty Pot in Convoy does not have many other competitors that also serve individual hot pot in the area, but if they were to copy the business model of Boiling Point and charge at a way higher price, they should at least ensure the quality of the food and service is comparable; Look at the amount of oil I was able to remove from the...
