P5 provides lots of personal attention with small classes where your techniques can be observed and corrected, if necessary without having to wait until the end of a class. Sensei Phillip Palmejar brings a wealth of knowledge from his mentor, 5th degree black belt Roy Harris. He gives you the kind of individual attention that is simply impossible in large classes at other facilities. There are no egos here as the training is to make you a martial artist as opposed to just a competitor.
P5 offers both gi and no gi jiujitsu as well as JKD, MMA, and Pankration. Fees are lower than almost anywhere else as you have the option of purchasing 2 day, 4 day, or unlimited days a week membership.
P5 is easy to get to with either bus #105 to Morena and Cushman, or bus #44 to Linda Vista and Napa, or The Green Line Trolley to Morena/Linda Vista Station. Just walk North from your bus or trolley to West Morena and Buenos, then go left to the end of Buenos, and the facility will be on your right.
You should thrive from the personal attention and small...

I’ve been studying martial arts for 2 years and wanted to find somewhere that taught Arnis/Filipino Martial Arts. The owner, Professor Philip Palmejar, is the man. A master in multiple styles, he will guide and instruct you no matter your experience or where you are in your journey. He takes the time to explain the technique, teaching it in the proper way in a welcoming environment that is ran professionally. You just can’t find an instructor like him around that offers the vast knowledge and expertise he has (trust me I looked) I highly recommend this dojo for all of your...
Read moreP5 is an amazing place to learn and grow in self defense skills. Professor Phillip and his staff teach Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ), Jeet Kun Do, and Jendo Arnis (Philippino Martial Arts). They have youth classes four nights a week that start at 5pm (the most convenient we found for working parents when considering time and location), and adult programs that follow. Professor Phillip and Sensei Mark make the classes fun and engaging for the youth, the class sizes are small (until you read this and sign up!), and are welcoming to boys and girls of any skill level. We are so happy to be a part of...
