This is my honest opinion as to why I did not renew my lease. At first Paseo Place seemed like the right fit but after living here for almost a year I saw how I was lied to several times. First of, they give out these âgift cardsâ if you tour and was told that I could use it to pay off rent and that my rent would be around 994 instead of 1,030 (for a 2x2 shared bedroom). I was told I would receive this gift card when I first moved in on August. I didnât receive it until like a month and a half later (and wasnât told it was an electronic gift card until later) and Paseo Place charges a 30$ fee for electronic payment. Either way I didnât end up paying 994 that I was told I could pay because I would end up losing money to pay the fee. Second, âcourtesy patrolâ is a lie. I always see him just sitting down on his phone not doing anything while there are parties going on around him ( I even provided a photo for evidence and have a video as well). Seeing that doesnât make me feel safe and I even told him that thereâs a party going on and he said âis it bothering you?â. Like ????. There was even a time where I had not seen courtesy patrol around for awhile and when I complained the student worker said âI havenât seen him eitherâ and the leasing manager told me âIâll talk to my manager about itâbut they never did or called me back or listened to my complaints. Also, Iâve complained several times about the people upstairs and how they are really noisy and even had a party during finals despite paseo place stating âquiet hours during finals are in place 24/7â (huge lie). They never did anything about it. Also they donât charge people fees if they have parties here so thatâs a lie as well (so party people welcome!). I always had to put maintenance requests because the closet door didnât work, the fan needed to be replaced, the front door wasnât working for the longest time, the washer sliding door sucked and had to call it in like three times. Overall, what theyâre charging students is ridiculous and itâs not even new appliances. I pay my own bills so what they charge is not worth it and I just donât like it when apartment complexes are not upfront and truthful. Donât get tricked like me. There are way better places out there and Iâm glad Iâm moving out and found...
Read moreATTENTION TO ANYONE WANTING TO RENT FROM THIS APARTMENT COMPLEX: Paseo Place Apartments will scam you for every last dollar you have. I am a student who was looking for a private apartment for me and my roommate. They spoke with me for a week telling me this was possible(which it is not) and not until after I signed the lease, did they notify me that we would be living in an apartment with two other people. That is $2200 for one bedroom in a two bedroom apartment! Being that I was lied to, I talked to corporate and the San Diego offices to see if it was possible to terminate the lease, but they informed me that was impossible and the only way to not move into this apartment was to sublet (have another tenant take over). What they didnât mention though was that subletting requires a $650 fee per person, which is absolutely ridiculous. As a previous renter for three years I have never experienced such horrible tenant services and am so afraid of how many other students they have taken advantage of. So due to Paseo Places horrible communication and con artist activities I WILL BE INFORMING ALL INTERESTED IN THESE UNITS WHAT YOU WILL ACTUALLY BE SIGNING A LEASE FOR. These are not private complexâs! They charge you $1500 for half of one bedroom. That means there will be TWO PEOPLE IN ONE BEDROOM. If you want a private room, they will have you sign for a shared unit, without your knowledge, and you will end up paying $3000 for 1 bedroom in a 2 bedroom apartment! (They make $6000 every month from a 2 bedroom apartment) This is no luxury apartment. All furniture is used. You donât get to choose your roommates. Average rent in San Diego for a 2 bedroom 2 bath is $2,200. DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE I DID AND FALL VICTIM TO THESE SCAMMERS. You are much better off looking for apartments or houses around SDSU, then sign a lease at this complex. Anyways just wanted to share my experiences to hopefully save someone else from getting wrapped up in this mess of an apartment complex. P.S. there are many other reviews speaking on the money scam that this business is, do...
Read moreLoud parties any given day of the week until sometimes 3 and 4 in the morning. Windows face in the inner part of the building so you can hear everything.
Constant construction. 2 major projects over the last 2 years taking several months each. Loud noise, obnoxious crews, the building is a mess, and insanely loud beeping from the Boom Lifts from 8-6pm Monday-Saturday.
-Filthy. Dried up puke in different areas of the parking garage and in the stairwells. Residents pile their trash up in front of the trash room door for maintenance to clean up. Trash cans around the building are always overflowing.
-Elevators have been broken for weeks. This is the second or third time they have gone out this year.
Hot water goes out for the whole building every 3-4 weeks. **Update: After 11 days without hot water, the boiler system was replaced and there have been no issues since.
Appliances in the apartment break frequently. Carpet is nasty. Floors are uneven so our dresser drawers won't stay closed. Electrical is so poorly wired we can't turn our bathroom fan on at the same time as our roommates. Paint melts off of the doors and walls. Everything is builder-grade.
Maintenance and office staff are always as prompt and as helpful as they can be. Pretty much the only good thing about living here. Obviously I cannot say the same for the management company/owners of the building.
-Expensive. Over $1100/month for half a bedroom in a building with way too many issues (meaning our 2bd/2bth apartment costs over $4500/month). Parking is $125/month. Although rent at Paseo is likely cheaper than other similar buildings within walking...
