I've heard so many good things about this place from fellow students that I thought it was about time to check it out myself. I happened to get out of class early enough to make the last hour of happy hour! I was super hungry, but it looked like almost every option for happy hour foods/appetizers were all something with peppers/spicy, which unfortunately I can't eat. The bartender working was kind enough to modify the order. I did mention that I wasn't a fan of black pepper too, but I think he missed the opportunity to warn me that the cauliflower were not only battered but smothered in black pepper :/ I was trying to make "healhy" choices, and fried wasn't suppose to be one. I also got the crispy brussel sprouts, but again, didn't realize they were also fried. And because i had to modify them to not have the spicy orange glaze on them, they just came out flavorless balls of grease. I'm sure the food is great for someone that doesn't have the restrictions like me. :/ As for drinks, it was starting to pick up so the bartender was very busy, but he still took the time to let me sample a tapped beer or two. I asked him for a sweet porter or stout and he gave me a sample of a barrel aged ipa... O.o not exactly the same, but ai appreciated the effort. The food did come out incredibly quick! And the bartender did check on me a few times. :) By the time it came for me to ask for the tab, it took a super long time for any one to ring me up. I understood that this was probably the peak of their rush but I had cash on the table for over 17 min (yes, i counted) as they walked by multiple times doing other things. I'll probably give this place another shot, but the first hour of happy hour, and only for drinks.

This place is great! I love that it's half in-, half out-door, so depending on your mood and weather, you can choose whether to be in the elements or not. The bar is set up in such a way that the bartenders would be serving both indoor and outdoor bar patrons. The cocktails and the whisky selection are amazing here. You can't go wrong with their libations. They also have really good ROTATING local beer selection (hello, stouts! Not many places stock up on stouts, let alone the good ones). I had the crispy brussels sprouts this time and they really delighted my palate. They were crispy, slightly charred and lightly coated with some kind of sweet, citrus-y sauce. I could eat a mountain of these on my own. One thing I don't like about this place and this is no fault of the restaurant is the parking. It's near SDSU, which means no street/free parking around; your only choice is to park at the parking structure. And you only get 1 hour with validation. Uhhh.. it's not easy to enjoy your drinks when you only got an hour! I want my second drink!

Eureka! is next to San Diego State University (SDSU) very near the transit station so it's convenient to everybody. The restaurant is fun to visit during the week and especially on the weekend during football season since they have many screens above the bar and elsewhere which carry all the NFL games. The crowd is young and upscale and so is the menu which has all your usual favourites plus several dishes which are unique and enjoyable interpretations of classic menu selections all ofvwhich can be found on the menu supplied above. The facilities are clean and modern plus the staff is energetic and willing to fulfill all your desires each visit. It's a must during your visit to this part of town especially if you're looking for a more luxurious meal which isn't typical of this area usually.

Service was very slow. We waited at least 15 minutes to get water, and the server walked away afterward. Another 10 minutes before drink orders, which took 15-20 minutes to arrive. You have to assert yourself to put in orders, because as soon as the server drops something off, they rush away and disappear for long periods of time. All in all, it took at least an hour to get food onto the table. Nobody asked if they could get us anything else or how things were. The food was not warm by the time it reached the table, and quickly got cold and difficult to eat. The food was "okay" at best.

We visited during happy hour and were ordering off of the happy hour menu, from which two margaritas were ordered. When the bill came, we were overcharged for each margarita, and the server quickly declared it to be a miscommunication (the wrong margarita was ordered for us - it was a basic, subpar house margarita that was served) and stated that there was nothing they could do about it. We asked them to speak with their manager about whether the issue could be resolved, and the server came back and repeated that there was nothing they could do. A member of our party asked to speak to the manager directly, who was very combative, refusing to change the bill for the margaritas. They were adamant about us not having ordered anything else from the HH menu (everything we ordered was from the HH menu), asking why it would make sense to order a HH margarita in the first place. Eventually, after another 45 minutes of arguing, the situation was resolved. The staff was rude and told us that they wouldn't be able to fix the...
