AWG Private Chefs — Local services in San Francisco

Several friends referred me to AWG, which was a good sign from the start. When I inquired with them about a specific menu I wanted for my 40th, I was worried I would be insulting their talents by having such a simple idea; I basically wanted an elevated kids menu for my 40th birthday bash. Sean was all in from our first discussion about it. He was excited to get to do something different an unique and was up for the challenge. After a few go arounds on what menu would work best (what foods would taste good together, what would leave our guests feeling full and satisfied while still keeping the theme alive) Sean created the most amazing menu that all of my guests were drooling over! The appetizer was Mac N Cheese balls, an amazing salad to clean our pallets before the entrée of cheeseburger slider, french fries and an apple chutney grilled cheese. Please see my photos for the details of the menu! Sean's entire staff was a delight to work with- they were personable, polite, we weren't ever without a drink in our hands or food on our plate. I’m sad to say we were very let down with our food delivery. In short, it’s nothing more than what I can get from the prepared section of the grocery store daily except exponentially more expensive.

The shrimp was so heavily peppered and spiced that it made me cough and I couldn’t feed it to the kids. There were 2 chicken dishes, literally just chicken both cooked with basic spicing. I can herb a chicken and bake it to eat it fresh if I wanted to but I signed up for a chef service because I want things for my family that are tasty, unique and difficult for me to take on on any given night. None of the meals did that. The salad has tofu just cubed up on top of it. It isn’t flavored in any which way. The actual salad is also...nothing special. It resembles a bag of greens I can get for $5 at the grocery store. You’d be better off just buying a prepped meal from Safeway - it would be far tastier. Had Chef Mike and Janiece for an Easter brunch/3rd birthday for my family of 11 adults and 3 kids under 6. The food was delicious and enjoyed by every single person. We had a sausage/veg/pecorino frittata served with gorgeous blistered cherry tomatoes, breakfast potatoes, bacon, sausage. There were classic devilled eggs at my request and they were perfect! There were fluffy, delectable Belgian waffles with butter, organic maple syrup and a delightful warm berry compote. Everyone reall y enjoyed the Greek yogurt parfaits with honey and berries; tart, sweet and refreshing. As a dessert for my granddaughter's 3rd birthday, they served espresso/fudge cupcakes topped with marshmallows, and her favorite "funfetti" cupcakes. The chefs were prompt, courteous and made everything on site. They also did all the cleanup. I was able to sit back and actually enjoy Easter and watch the kiddos hunt for eggs!
