The Sugar Alley — Restaurant in San Francisco

I ordered a "surprise" Rasmalai cake from Sugar Alley for my wife's birthday. I ordered on Tuesday noon. I needed it before Saturday morning when we would start for our trip for the birthday celebration. She initially agreed to complete the cake by Saturday morning, but in the end finished it by Friday evening. During the week she messaged me a few times with questions about the cake. The pick up was hassle free; I paid by Zelle and picked up the cake from Milpitas.

The cake was beautiful and smelled heavenly! She wrote the birthday message I requested on the cardboard base in a visually appealing way. We both liked the taste as well. One small thing is that I personally would prefer finer granules in the body of the cake, but it was not a big deal. The frosting was a bit too sweet for me, but it was similar to most American desserts. So the sweetness level would probably be fine for most people.

I have reached out and tried two of their products and both have been winners so far. The rose pistachio ice cream was perfect. The texture was very soft and airy and the flavors were very well balanced. I was afraid of getting a super sweet overbearing flavor but everything was well measured and it wasn't sweetness overload. Definitely felt good quality. The other item was the rasmalai cupcake. Honestly was one of the best indian fusion desserts I've had. The rasmalai and the filling was rich and very flavorful. There was no shortage of premium flavor hits. Did not feel guilty paying the extra bit that you have to for these premium cupcakes. Everything is packaged really well and the owner is extremely responsive and accommodating to requests. Can't wait to try more things...

Ordered a purple ombre rosettes pineapple vanilla cake for our daughter's 1st birthday cake smash. The cake looked very pretty and tasted equally good. It wasn't too sweet, sponge was moist and frosting buttery soft.

The butter cream frosting was so soft and our daughter had fun digging into it.. she totally gave some good shots smearing the cake everywhere and solved our purpose..

Our order was on a short notice of ~3 days and shwetha happily incorporated us and cake was ready at the time of pick. She is quick and very responsive and would even reply at late hours.. text message is easier way to reach her .. looking forward to try her indian...
