Tldr: Went for about a year and am now searching for a new nail tech; Mia's quality went downhill
I've experienced gel mani, gel x, and gel removal. First time I went, it was for gel removal and it was pretty basic. The couple of other times, it was for gel x. She / her mom would cut my nails super short then tell you yea it's too short for regular gel and "short is ugly"-- so you have to get extensions or else it won't look good & they'll continue pushing you.
For the past 3 separate appointments, while she / her mom was drilling on my nails, she caused the sides of some of them to cut& bleed, ouch. She would deflect by saying 'you have such small nails' like ok but every other Asian girl has the same size nails so? The cuts would be really big too so having a bandaid over fresh nails is basically like putting a cap over a new haircut. I continued going, to give them the benefit of doubt but my nails always had cuts at the end of each appointment. My most recent appointment was for regular gel, no extensions. Maybe it was a language barrier difference (her mom and dad are mainly Viet speakers) but I wanted to see how my nails looked as round or square w/ rounded edges. After a few minutes, her mom said something in Viet to Mia and they switched places. Mia gave a lot of attitude and said she couldn't understand me. She then proceeded to talk sh!t about me to her mom during my visit. Needless to say, I left with a poor manicure and even uglier nail shape.
In general: Quality: 4/5 Mia is good at details if she has time + if you have money. (Gel is around $50, gel x around $110 not including tip) Usually she overbooks herself so you wait over 30 min past your scheduled time to finally get started. If you're doing anything with the gel drill -related, be prepared for your nail or cuticles to bleed after how rough they are. Her dad roughly used an orange buffer on my nails and it bled.
Professionalism: 1/5 As before, she makes you wait a long time. Sometimes she's ready but 5/6 visits, they're lagging. They talk about you in Vietnamese in front of you. Not classy. The one in that "1/5" is because I like how clean their place is. They sterilize their nail tool packets and used to have barriers during the COVID Era. Now though, it seems like their entire family is sick because they're always coughing whenever I go.
Cost: 3/5 Cheap but my most recent extensions fell off after 1 week. She charges you for every design, chrome and detail in addition to the minimum nail price. (Add +10$ for French tips or chrome in additin to gel base price) She will though treat you better if...
Read moreI will never return due to the fact that my toe got infected after a pedicure. I could barely sleep at night because the pain in my toe was so unbearable. After day four of my infected toe I went to the doctor to get antibiotics. I started soaking my toe in salty water a few times a day and after a week it cleared up and puss was no longer oozing from my toe. I also did not receive a top gloss coat and the polish after the first week started to chip off. I do not recommend this nail salon. There are too many great salons in the city to ever go back to this one....
Read moreI’ve been getting my nails done at different salons around SF for almost 20 years now, and I’m downright picky about my nails. This salon easily tops the charts, BUT you need an appointment. It’s worth it, I promise. Their gel removal was gentle and kept my natural nails in great condition, their attention to detail on cuticle, shape, and design is meticulous. I brought in a reference photo, and they were able to match the design effortlessly in gel manicure form. Am relieved I moved close by, I’ll be coming here for a...
