if there was a zero star that I only WILL GIVE YOU my wife got a XL5 RTR for the store in Snell ave on 8/20/2016 and on 9/01/16 front wheel broke i did take the car to the store to show them the car and what you know they tell me nothing they can do even i have the original receipt (for any one buy some thing at the store please red the lower section in regard return) then i ask for manager and reply we do not have manager i said all store have manager then he said he is not at he store,at the same time different person comes in and said i did hear every thing we will not fix or replace the item and i asked him all i need the manager name so i can file court case he reply just take one of the card on the desk with no NAME!!!!!! I said i thing the only thing is best to do to get the info is i have to call the police to get the info and the 1st person i spoke to said some thing with F** word and i asked him what did you say i did not reply and i asked one more time at the same time #2 person he looked at #1 FACE and said i did not hear any thing and i reply wait you told me there is camera and recording so i can prove that and #2 replay so what if he used Fword and when i said i will call the police #2 said if you call the police is Fraud and i said what are you talking are you trying to scare me OK let me call the police and let see if they agree what you said but at the same time i had to go to get my kids from school and came back in 1/2hr and went in the store to let them know am back but before i call police i asked #2 person work at the store what is the definition of the RECEIPT he did not at the same time he saw that my cell phone in front of him on the table with recording page BUT OFF to see his reaction and he said you cant record me and get the f#### out then i went out called the police do to short in police respond the gave me a case # and to file court case with police report AND the SGT name. I cant believe that employee use F** word to customer be aware of there customer respect, I have my Layer file a case for not fixing or replacing the item plus i will file case against the 2 employee for using the FWORD. Read moreFirst of all, the ONLY reason I wound up buying here after my experience was because I wanted the item immediately AND I was using an AMEX Blue cash card which has a nice little benefit called, "Return Protection." It will allow me to return anything up to $300 to AMEX that I bought with it for a full refund regardless of the store's return policies. Had I not had this benefit to lean on, there's NO WAY I would have given them a cent!
When my daughter and I walked in they completely ignored us. No big deal we thought. We were amazed at all the cool toys surrounding us. Maybe they were just letting us have a look around. Unfortunately over an HOUR passed before I finally got someone's attention. Yes - a FULL HOUR. When I did finally get their attention it seemed as if they could care less that I was even there. I'm completely flabbergasted as to how horrible and inattentive the employees here are. Why would anyone ever return after a first visit??
We bought a Traxxas Stampede XL-5 for $299.99 Don't even bother to mention the "price guarantee" you see plastered all over their website (which by the way when you click it doesn't take you to a page explaining anything about it, it simply reloads the main page) - if you mention the price guarantee they simply tell you that it's only for local hobby shops; they do not match online prices.
Found my Traxxas XL-5 Stampede online on Amazon for $217 with free shipping (sold & shipped by Amazon). I'll be returning the SHELDON'S HOBBIES one to AMEX and buying a new one from Amazon.
I wouldn't mind paying a LITTLE more for a product at a local store IF they knew anything about common decency and courtesy. My visit to your store killed it for us and anyone I ever speak to about the hobby (which I imagine will be A LOT of people because EVERYONE asks me where I bought our cool R/C truck from because they say it's "Awesome & CRAZY FAST"). Read moreStopped in at Sheldon's Hobbies today for a plane. My son is starting to get into RC and he wanted one with a little better quality than the ones available on Amazon.
We weren't disappointed.
A couple of things first.
Getting to this store is a challenge. It sits in downtown Willow Glen (or as close to "downtown" as it could be) and traffic is usually nuts there. Today, it was gridlock. When going into that area, always add 15 minutes to account for the challenge of getting in and finding parking...then getting out after.
Next, it's a hobby store. Don't expect pristine isles and everything perfect. It's a hobby store.
Now for our experience.
They were amazing. Super helpful and friendly. This was our first time in and we weren't treated like it was our first time in. Other hobby stores have been like that in the past, so I'm really glad they were down to earth.
Next, we found that we had a choice of about six (6) planes in our target type. This will be my son's 4th plane, but they've all been beginner planes and we just aren't ready for the advanced ones yet. But I wasn't expecting to have six to choose from. That was great.
The bonus was that we were able to find a beginner model that is more advanced than the ones he's flown to this point at a reasonable price that didn't require buying extra stuff.
It looks like they will be our new go-to location for...
