I've visited elhalal amigos multiple times, and each visit has been a delightful experience. One of the highlights is the ease of finding parking, which is always a plus in any dining outing. The service here is impeccable, with staff members who are not only attentive but also genuinely pleasant to interact with. One of the reasons I keep coming back is the affordability of the menu items. Despite offering halal options, the prices are reasonable and offer great value for money. Speaking of halal, elhalal amigos excels in providing authentic Mexican cuisine that adheres to halal standards. As someone who has tasted Mexican food in Cabo, I can attest that the flavors here are incredibly close to the real deal. Now, let's talk about the food itself. The taste is simply exceptional, with each bite bursting with flavor. I've tried several items, including taco plates, burritos, and quesadillas, and each dish has been consistently delicious. However, the real star of the show is the carne asada meat – it's hands down the best choice for any dish. And don't even get me started on the rice; the flavor is so exquisite that it's almost addictive. Overall, this place is a gem for those craving halal Mexican cuisine. With its convenient location, outstanding service, and mouthwatering dishes, it's a must-visit for any food enthusiast.

We got nachos and tacos. The food is apparently halal. For taco with got the triple combo and ordered one chicken, one halibut and one shredded meat. For nachos, for the meat we ordered the steak. The food was delicious but very very oily. The presentation was fantastic. The only issue I had was with the lack of proper communication of the cashier (young Caucasian male-we were there on May 13 around 1pm). When I asked the cashier if halibut is an extra $ charge, he played ignorant and said "no its the same price, that's juts how the system shows it". I also asked him about nachos showing $ extra and he said "no, nachos is still $17". There was also a 4% living wage extra charge on the menu not declared, which is fine but would be nice to disclose those charges, especially when someone is explicitly asking. When I looked at my total bill, he had in fact charged us extra without telling us and I had already paid for it. The cashiers "must" know which items on the order will incur additional charges to properly inform purchase and not to mislead. I also asked him what the juice was made of and he gave me random wrong information. I also asked him question about beans and he again gave me wrong info. He could benefit from proper training. I probably won't come back due to this and how excessively oily the food was.

Great food. Delicious flavors. Had a burrito that was very yummy, wife had a bowl which was even better. Crazy busy when we came in but worth any wait. Cool staff, very friendly and helpful with the menu. 6/18/22 Just an update. Went here for dinner again. Oh my God! Try the nachos. You must have someone order the nachos. Amazing. Pic is included wife stopped talking to me when they arrived and just ate. She went with Barbacoa and it was delicious to the end. Nice job this place is definitely on my fav spots to hit up while in San Jose. And yes there are plenty of Taquria's to choose from but give this place a chance or don't the lines are already long enough 😉 6/4/23 Brought my parents here. Ordered the nachos, of course, first thing devoured in a few short minutes. Delicious Burrito bowl, 2 orders of the Sunday special Quesabirria. Very good, lots of flavor, grease, cheese. But if you're not down with grease, stay away. We all looked like Elephant Seals sun bathing after eating. Oh well, it's worth it. Whenever I walk in & see tables with Nachos, I feel I had a little part in it, like .002%. Love the food and Willow Glenn Neighborhood. If you haven't been then it's time to give it a try!!! 8/9/25 They have expanded the menu. Try some new things or keep to the Originals.

Dear Management,

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to formally express my dissatisfaction with the service my sister and I received during our recent visit to El Halal Amigos. As a long-time customer, I was deeply disappointed by the level of disrespect and unprofessionalism displayed by your staff on this occasion.

On September 20, 2024, we initially ordered takeout but decided to dine in upon arrival. While seated, we noticed that every other customer was being served chips and salsa, yet we were not. When I approached one of your workers—a young woman with highlighted hair and a mole on her eyebrow—she informed me that we could not receive chips and salsa because we had originally ordered takeout. I explained that, although we initially ordered takeout, we were now dining in and should be treated as such.

Despite her claiming she would speak to the manager, it was evident that she did not, as she quickly returned and simply reiterated her previous stance. I pointed this out and requested to speak directly with the manager. After being completely avoided for a period of time, the manager Denis eventually came out, only to inform me, in front of other customers, that he had the right to refuse service. This response was incredibly unprofessional and felt dismissive of my concerns.

Throughout this time, I observed your staff casually socializing and serving chips and salsa to a group of their friends. The lack of attention and respect towards me, as a paying customer, left me feeling insulted and humiliated.

As a loyal customer, I have always enjoyed dining at El Halal Amigos. However, after this experience, I will no longer support your establishment, nor will I recommend it to others. I plan to share my experience on social media and with my family, friends, and colleagues. It is disappointing to witness such poor customer service at a place I once enjoyed.

I hope this feedback encourages you to address these issues and prevent such experiences from happening to...

I heard all this hype about this “authentic” Mexican food, so, naturally was excited to give it a try. My family and I wanted to try this specifically because it is a halal joint. We already know we are going to have to pay extra for the “halal” option, no problem, will do so, happily. I ordered a carne asada burrito, two chicken tacos, two carne asada tacos, and “nar” nachos. The burrito was ok, the carne asada was lacking flavor, same with the carne asada tacos, lacking flavor. The chicken tacos were good. The Nachos were the biggest disappointment, fake nacho cheese, the chips were the chips you get from Costco in the extra big bag... NOT Authentic. And the food was EXPENSIVE. The bill came out to $50 and it included a coke. 99.9% sure I won’t be going back here. Other MX halal joints are just as expensive, but the flavor is better. I feel that folks are getting over on the Folks that eat halal exclusively, serving sub par food at a premium price.

updated review* Alright! El Halal Amigos have stepped it up. I decided to give them a second try since I was in San Jose, and I’m glad I did. I got the barbacoa super burrito with everything togo ($18). It was very filling, it was huge, a bit too much rice but it worked out well bc it soaked up all the juice, flavors of the meat. Really good burrito. The chips are really good. I’m happy they put a bag of chips in the order. It makes the price worth it. The chips are really authentic, seems like they make them in house, not exactly sure, but the point is the chips are good. The service was great. I ordered over the phone togo and food was ready in 10 mins. The restaurant was full of people, and was very clean. I would...
