Willow Glen Branch Library — Attraction in San Jose

Definitely not planned with pedestrians or people with small children in mind- the only book return is a slot outside by the parking lot and books need to be returned one by one. Books are not returned inside the library so if you come in the front door you have to go out the back door to return your books. I arrived with a stroller, a load of books, and two small children- I took the kids out went to the desk with my books and was told I had to take all the books out to the parking lot entrance. Dangerous. Then I was told I had been putting too many books in the return slot at once- one book at a time - wait for a green light. I am sure this is inconvenient for numerous patrons- but there is a simple fix, put a book return inside the library and let the staff do a little bit of the processing....

I brought my 1 yo to the library in hopes to participate in the outdoor family story time. We were turned away cause of “Covid” and them limiting participants. I can tell you know, there was plenty of space, multiple empty chairs and areas on the floor to sit. If you are going to enforce Covid policy- then enforce policy. Great library. Nice location. Only one study room though for only one hour. Need more San Jose library cards to renew. People are nice do friendly and like to help and support. They did help my mom create her library card. The lady was so gentle and nice. The book collection is huge but need more French and Arabic books / so rare in this library or any San Jose library. I love the place and the library in general and I highly recommend...
